๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš€ Releases- Spaces, Project Health, and a little demystification (04/17/19)

Feature Updates

Spaces are Being Rolled out

Spaces are a new way of organizing your Workspace and they're being rolled out to all accounts (it'll happening gradually, so you might not see them yet). Get acquainted. Short Video.ย

Project Health on the Timeline

Instead of opening a project info panel you can see Project Health near a project's name on the timeline portion of Gantt Chart.ย Friendly reminder: Project health is in Labs.

Date Constraints: Demystified

Add, change, or deleteย date constraintsย from the table portion of Gantt Chart. Use the โ€œStart Constraintโ€ column to do this.

Export Comments on Wrike Proof

You can export attachments as PDF files with Wrike Proof comments included.

More Custom Access Roles

Enterprise accounts have a new Access Role permission: "Set Folder's or Project's Default View".

Guest Reviewers + Email Notifications

When you @mention a Guest Reviewer an email will be sent to them. Hooray for notificationsย ๐Ÿ™Œ.

Resource Management Updates

  • Check the bottom of a Timesheet to see how many tasks are in that sheet.
  • Exclude tasks that are filtered out when you're calculating a person's workload for a particular day (if you want to).
  • Move items from the Workload Chart to Backlog Box - just make sure your Backlog Box is configured first.
  • Change which users you see on a Workload Chart - just click "All users" and then choose who you want to see.

UI Changes

  • Some tabs in your profile got a name change: "Email addresses" is now "Email preferences" and "Accounts" became "Account information".
  • The time tracking icon changed from pause/start buttons to a stopwatch.

Hi Stephanie.

When I click on the Get acquainted link in the Spaces are Being Rolled Out section above, it takes me to a sign-in page for Guru. Is that accurate?ย

The Short Video works as expected.

Thanks!

@Wrike - Is there a thread for feedback on Spaces? i have a few items i'd like to bring up.

1. Using the Link to this task in the desktop app does not convert correctly in a bookmark!ย

2. The Webinar showed the Icons for Folder, Report, Dashboard as different colors. They are all blue in mine and sort of all run together. Bring back the color!!

Loving the Bookmark portion so far, saves searching all over for what we need, but the links need to be easier to add, and we really need the color differentiation

Still playing w/ the Spaces, I believe it will be a huge benefit to our Team.ย

@Wrike - and also.. using the Desktop app, when i click on a bookmark, it opens a separate tab in it's own window. Now i have like 10 tabs open, which take up a lot of memory.ย  Is there a setting i'm missing?ย

The information on spaces is very lacking and would've been helpful BEFORE the release. When I click on the "Get acquainted" link above it takes me to a Guru page to log in. I don't know what this system is and don't have a Guru account. Please share more information on the spaces and how they work.ย

For the record, I agree with Angie.ย  I was just getting ready to deep dive into Spaces and learn it before bringing it to our organization then was surprised when it was rolled out to our account this morning with a big popup and fanfare. There really wasn't much opportunity to consider and prepare for it.

I'd like to agree with Marjorie's points above and also add to them.

When I add bookmark links to folders they don't appear to be working correctly. For example I have a folder that contains several related projects. When I navigate to that folder normally from the folder tree it opens a Gantt chart view that I have selected as the folder's default, enabling a nice overview of the projects. When I click on the link created in bookmarks, it opens a divided window view, the left hand of which is just a list view of every folder and task that has been shared with me and the right hand side of which is the folder, but as a task and it is just perpetually loading so nothing ever actually comes up.

The same thing happens when I create and click on a bookmark link for a folder that we normally view as a table.

Is anyone else having similar problems? Should bookmarks recognise the default view of the folder selected?

I really liked the way that Spaces was demonstrated in the webinar and have been excited to get it up and running for our team, so I'm hoping there's just a few kinks to be ironed out at this stage. It's a great addition to the platform!

Great you finally added project progress in some way, a good start.

However:

1) progress should also be shown at task level (in the gantt and other views, in a readonly field) + toggle to hide it.

2) progress should be rolled up from tasks to sub tasks/folders

you already have these information, needed to calculated overall progress - why don't you make them visible?

Last but not least, maybe a bit of topic: closing a task with subtasks should also close (or ask to close) sub tasks.
Furthermore, closing the "father" task and (for any reason) leaving open one of the children tasks influences the calculation; the "father" task will in fact be counted as a single individual task, i.e. progress will not really reflect the reality.

@Kathryn - this is unexpected behavior. The default view should be saved. Let me raise a ticket to Support so they can take a closer look. Someone will be in touch by email soon to help.

@GIanluca - thank you for this feedback about project progress, the team is thinking about ways to add progress in other ways. You can share your feedback on this here.

For feedback on task roll up completion, please take a look at our Product Feedback section where you can search and vote on an idea, or post your own suggestion.

For all other feedback on Spaces, please drop over to this dedicated post so we can ensure all feedback is collected in the one place. Please remember to tell us what you'd like improved and what you like - both really help shape the future of the feature ๐Ÿ™Œ

Hi. Since introduction of spaces we cannot add Rootfolders. Will this feature come back?

Hi Markus,

I noticed this too.

As a workaround until it's fixed you can create a folder /project (folder X) within an existing folder / project (folder Y) and then - in the detailed view of X - remove Y's parent tag.

The folder then has no location and appears in the "Shared with me" area of Wrike.

ย

Obviously not an ideal solution but I hope that helps if you haven't found this yourself

@Markus - the new foundational building block within Wrike is Spaces so everything (net-new) must be built within an existing Space first. For existing customers, they can still build projects and folders under existing root folders, but they will not be able to create top-level folders unless it lives in a Space.

@George - this is a super useful workaround, as usual, thank you ๐Ÿ™ One thing to note that it becomes a little difficult after these steps to build top-level Folders thereafter.ย

I understand this is a new update to the way to build within Wrike from the foundation, however, after much testing, we know this approach of using Spaces is a more intuitive way to construct your building blocks in Wrike. I would recommend watching the below if you have not already. It's really powerful information to help you ensure you're getting the most from Spaces. If you have any questions, comment below.
