[Status: Launched 🚀] Convert a Task into a Project

Upvote here! Our team would really benefit from this as we are going through a big transition. Would love to see this become a thing

I am a new customer here and am looking to convert a task into a project... Despite multiple requests, it looks like the feature was never added (since 2017). Any further insight would be great.

Our Product team doesn't currently have this idea in their plans due to different priorities and the complexity of this suggestion. The team has been reviewing and continues to receive feedback here, but they can't commit to working on all suggestions in this forum. This really seems like it should be a basic feature of the program. Let me add the 477th vote to this, please take it off "not planned" and move it to "complete" as soon as possible. 

Adding my two cents as well, I'm constantly looking to convert a task to a project. We moved back to Wrike from another PM software and based on how our data was migrated over, we have too many tasks that should be projects and it's a lot of manual effort instead of a click of a button. 

I thought it was quite frustrating when we were not able to convert projects to tasks, but now I also found out that we are not able to convert tasks to projects. For some reason, I remembered we were able to convert tasks to projects before, but maybe it was all that I imagined. Yes, it would be great to have this function to convert tasks to projects and projects to tasks. Thank you!

I'll add my voice as well and a 482nd vote! Having to do a pile of copy-pasting to 'convert' tasks to projects is a huge pain and incredibly inefficient.

This would be a very useful feature for us. Creating new projects and using mass edit is slow and clunky, when you may want to do this hundreds of times.

Adding that I as well would like a button to convert a Task to a Project

I also support this feature as you very often start something small (a task) and you uncover a more complex issue than planned that require to be handled as a Project. 

I understand that a certain ask needs to have x number of votes. This has been requested for >5 years and is such a key ask. convert a task to a project or a project to a task. How can we get this elevated / completed? 

497th vote for this feature. especially for large/complex organizations using wrike with lots and lots of teams sharing information and utilizing their team spaces in multiple ways. having this feature available would be an immense addition to better cross-collaboration.

I also support this request for Task to Project conversion button. My Team has discussed this many times and has surfaced in conversation today.  Please move this forward.  Thank you!  I am vote 506

Added vote 509 to this.  It's ridiculous that this has so much support but hasn't been figured out since 2017.

I want to use the Outlook plugin to turn "sales lead" emails into projects.  However, the plugin only seems to support turning them into tasks.  Then I can't change them from tasks into projects, and the tasks don't show up on the left sidebar.

I don't want to have to make a new project & copy everything across, I want to either have Outlook give an option to create a PROJECT from an email, or have the ability to change a task into a project.

I am coming here in 2023 to see if this suggestion has been taking into consideration to be implemented. While I understand Wrike cannot commit to all suggestions, Wrike should be prioritize what their users are asking for and I really believe we are the audience and the client so it should be prioritized. 

Please build this already. We try to get all requests to flow into tract using the request form, but sometimes we want to promote a simple task to become an project or even epic, so that we can manage it at a higher level. I don't understand why one cannot be converted to another with a click of the button. I could accept losing some task specific data.

Why does it take over 300 comment sin the course of 6 years to get nowhere?

And Juan, please provide the reason why you did you decide not to implement this feature, given the popularity of the idea?

Wrike has no excuse any more for this. I've said already many times how this issue is continually ignored because Wrike would have to be rebuilt in order to accomplish this. They aren't going to do that. Their excuses and "we'll take it into consideration for future updates" is just obfuscation and smoke and mirrors. Wrike, do better. Do better for the hundreds of users who have literally been screaming for this change for YEARS. I'm laying down a gauntlet on behalf of all of the users you have ignored for the past six years on this issue. No more excuses. No more BS. No more useless responses telling us what we are asking is "not a priority at this time". DO BETTER.

Saw a recent post on the "reject" issue in Approvals. Commented on the Lightspeed UI redesign and how it is negatively impacting productivity.
Just came here to the Product Feedback channel to see if the highest upvoted feature got implemented.

Not feeling optimistic about future development at the moment.
