@... Unfortunately your workaround doesn't accomplish what many of us are hoping for. Losing all of the comments/interaction defeats the purpose of "converting" the task into a project- we all know we can just create a new project with the same content as the existing task.

My org submits project proposal requests via a request form. I then present these proposals to the leadership team. We want to view these proposals in the kanban board view, thus they have to come in as a task. When they approve a proposal to move forward, at that point I would like the task to turn into a project so it flows with all of the other project capabilities and views, rather than a task with a ton of subtasks.

Lisa, every time you say these things it is like spitting in the face of years worth of users begging for this to happen. Your failure to add anything of value to this conversation is as big a problem as the problem itself. Quit treating your customer base like children.ย

Not to add fuel to the fire, but it seems like the Wrike Customer's (US/WE) are in support of adding this ability.ย  The status of Not Planned which means = Not planned and unlikely to be part of the Product Teamโ€™s roadmap in the near future.ย  I do not understand, with 500+ upvotes, you are telling us that Wrike is not going to consider this in the future.ย  Granted that some ideas may not have the traction that this idea has.ย  But this is ridiculous.ย  Are we wasting our time on these Community Forums for Voting on ideas to improve the functionality of the Wrike Platform?

It is truly absurd that the Wrike team has no intention of addressing this requested feature despite the clear demand from over 500 active users. While I don't intend to digress from the main topic, I also believe that sorting is another significant issue that could be easily resolved on Wrike. After all, shouldn't user experience (UX) be one of the primary drivers of customer satisfaction? Disregarding fundamental requests for functional development does not reflect well on your team.

Lisa Does this mean there are some other features coming that will solve our need? I think, at this point, we need a light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe the solution isn't going to look like "convert a task into a project," but is there something on the roadmap that will accomplish the end result we are looking for?

I have never quite understood the thought process in developing the tool to allow the customer to convert a folder into a project, but not a task.ย  Our workaround to this limitation, while is not ideal (due to the start date of the task being earlier than the creation date of the project), is to tag/move the form intake task into the Planning phase of the project once the task has been approved to be converted to a project. At that point we have to back date the start date of the project to match the start date of the task, which then shows a start date prior to the project creation date (which seems a little odd that the tool even allows that to happen).ย 

Definitely some room for improvements here and I have to agree with the others, if 500+ votes is not enough to move this up in the roadmap, then what is the point of even having the little "hearts" other than for us to show one another a little love (which we all could use from time to time).

Lisa,rather than disappoint us further by sharing what IS NOT on the future roadmap, perhaps it would be better to tell us what IS on the roadmap.

Iโ€™ve been following this thread for 6 years, itโ€™s time to hear something different than, โ€œitโ€™s not on the roadmapโ€. I hope I can return to this thread to see some exciting new features that users have actually been asking for.

Has this been addressed? I'm in a free trial period, testing the software on day 1, and running into the same issue. Phillp's position on the initial "mind dump" and clean-up of thoughts in a "post-mind dump" stage is where I'm at. This is a no-brainer function, and I'm surprised this has been open since 2017. Are there any updates on a fix?

With the release of features that extend existing tasks and projects, such as custom item types, I am surprised that there is not a feature to convert them without making users aware of the difference between tasks and projects.
Users are not that aware of the difference between tasks and projects, so it should be designed in such a way (like in life) that they can redo it later, no matter which way they create it.

We also would really like this to be implemented: added my +1. In the meantime, it might be possible to create it using a custom Wrike API app that maybe gets triggered by a checking a custom field. Has anyone tried this (obviously inferior to an official feature, which we would love to see as soon as possible)?

i can get to the google link, but it pulls my gmail address vs my company email, which I think would be more helpful in your database (knowing what users/companies have filled out the survey).

The question is not formatted correctly. You need to flip the options. The "importance" should be on the X grid and the "type of data" should be on the Y grid.

Unless you meant us to grade these 7 types of data from most to least important.

I had a workaround that to create a project titled by the name of the task in question and move the task to the new project. It will move it with all its comments and history.
