How to Customise Dashboard Design

TL;DR

Customize each dashboard’s colors and style from the Design panel without changing account-wide settings. Apply one custom color palette to all widgets, overriding system colors for statuses and custom fields, or opt out individual widgets. You can also save presets, preview light or dark mode, and copy design settings from another dashboard. Custom colors appear only in the dashboard view where you apply them. This option is available to users who can edit the dashboard.

Overview

You can customize a dashboard from the Design panel. Your custom color palette applies to every widget and overrides system colors, including workflow status and custom field colors. You can exclude individual widgets from the custom palette.

Custom colors appear only on the dashboard where you apply them. Tasks and fields keep their standard colors in Task, Board, and Table views, and on other dashboards. These settings don’t affect your account-wide colors.

Use dashboard design settings to create on-brand, presentation-ready reports for executives, clients, and other stakeholders.

What You Can Customize

From the Design panel, you can:

• Build a custom color palette that applies to all dashboard widgets and overrides system colors, including workflow statuses and custom fields.
• Turn custom colors on or off for the entire dashboard without losing your palette.
• Opt individual widgets out of custom colors.
• Preview changes in light mode or dark mode.
• Save colors as presets.
• Use HEX codes and the eyedropper tool.
• Change the number of shades for each color.
• Copy design settings from another customized dashboard.

How to Customize a Dashboard’s Design

1. Navigate to the Dashboards section 1 in the sidebar and open the dashboard you want to customize.
   OR
   Navigate to the relevant space and open the dashboard 2 from the Tools section.

2. Click Design 3 in the toolbar.

4. Use the toggle 5 to preview the dashboard in light mode or dark mode.
5. Click Save to keep your changes, or Discard them to exit design mode 6.

How to Manage Dashboard Colors

Wrike applies custom colors and their shades to all widgets in the order shown below. They override workflow status and custom field colors on this dashboard only.

By default, Use custom colors 1 is turned on. Wrike applies a predefined accent palette and cycles those colors across chart data.

Add custom colors

You can add your custom colour to the palette by clicking + Add color 2 and click on any color field to open the color picker.

To remove a color and all its shades, click the trash icon 3 next to it.

Turn custom colors On/Off

If you turn Use custom colors off, the dashboard returns to Wrike’s default system colors.

This resets chart and graph colors to the default palette.

If you turn Use custom colors on, the dashboard applies your custom design colors again. The palette is not lost when toggled off.

Add shades to the color

Shades appear below each color in the palette. Use the + button to add shades for each color separately. To remove a shade, click the x icon above it.

Rearrange colors

You can drag colors to change their order in the palette.

Wrike applies colors in the same order they appear in the list. The first color is used first, followed by the second, and so on.

Use the Color Picker

Click any color field 1 in the Design panel to open the color picker.

The color picker has two tabs 2:

• Custom: Choose a color manually, enter a HEX code 3, or use the visual selector.
• Presets: Choose from saved or preconfigured color palettes.

You can also use the eyedropper tool 4 to select a color.

How to Save and Use Presets

Presets are saved directly from the color picker.

To create a preset:

1. Click any color field or + Add color to open the color picker.
2. Click the Presets tab.
3. Click Add as preset color.
4. Enter a name for the preset, and choose a color.

5. Click Add.

   

The presets are saved in the color palette.

To apply a preset to an existing color palette, click the color picker, and select the preset you created.

When you apply a preset, it appears as a chip in the field to show that it’s linked to a preset.

You can detach the preset at any time. After that, the field shows the specific color value again, and you can edit it manually.

How to Opt a Widget Out of Custom Colors

1. Open the widget’s three-dot menu.
2. Under Applied colors, clear the Custom dashboard colors checkbox. The widget returns to Wrike’s default colors.

3. Select Custom dashboard colors again to reapply the dashboard colors.

   

How to Copy Design Settings From Another Dashboard

If you already customized another dashboard, you can copy its design settings to save time and keep styling consistent.

1. Open the dashboard you want to update.
2. Click Design in the toolbar.
3. Click the Copy icon in the design panel.
4. Select Copy design from option.
5. In the pop-up:
   1. Browse the source dashboard.
   2. Select the dashboard from which you want to copy the design settings from.
   3. Click Copy design.

The selected design settings are applied to your current dashboard.

Permissions

Dashboard customization follows existing dashboard editing permissions.

To customize a dashboard, it must be shared with you with Editor permissions or Full permissions. Space admins can also customize dashboards created in their space.

Any user who can edit a dashboard can also customize its design. There’s no separate permission setting for dashboard customization.
