Managing and Reporting on Billable Time

TL;DR

Track, manage, and report on billable and non-billable time using Timelog view. You can review time entries, filter or group them by billing type, manage edits, and generate reports to better understand how time is allocated across projects and tasks.

Overview

All account users, except for external users, collaborators, contributors and viewers, can manage other users’ time entries.

Once you set the billing type for all relevant projects and tasks within them, you can easily get an overview of how much time your employees worked on a certain task and whether or not this time is billable in Timelog view. It's important to note that the billing type for a time entry is inherited from the task where the time is tracked. There you can:

How to Group and Filter Billable Time

In the Timelog view, the billing type of each time entry is indicated in the Billing type column 1.

How to Filter Time Entries by Billing Type

  1. Click the filter icon 2 in the upper-left corner of the Timelog table.
  2. Scroll down to the Billing Type filter section 3.
  3. Check the box next to the Billable or Non-billable type.

How to Group Time Entries by Billing Type

  1. Click the Add grouping button in the upper-left corner of the view. Or, if another grouping is already applied, click the + button 4.
  2. Select Billing type 5.
