Announcements

  • Weekly Release Notes - We're pressing pause and looking for your feedback ๐Ÿ“ข
We know how much you love our release notes and we want to make them even better for you! So, we want to hear your feedback. Please, share with us here in the comments your thoughts on what we can do better (or tell us about what's already going great), weโ€™re open to any feedback you have. We're currently planning on making a move to sharing these updates on a monthly basis (upon further investigation), so if you have any thoughts on this we'd love to hear them ๐Ÿ‘‡
ย
For now, we plan to take a break from our weekly updates (so you won't see any posts here in the next few weeks), but we will be back with an even better release note experience very soon, stay tuned. In the meantime make sure that you are subscribed to our Brought to You by Wrike forum so you wonโ€™t miss all the exciting updates we are releasing! ๐Ÿ‘€

Feature Updates

  • Custom Fields - Conditional Formatting Available in Numeric/Date Custom Fields ๐ŸŸข๐ŸŸก๐Ÿ”ด
Before: conditional formatting was available only for calculated custom fields.
Now: you can add conditional formatting to regular custom fields, such as percentage %, number, currency, date, and duration.
Note: these new settings are visible only on the New Table view, New Board view, and Work Item view (another reason to give them a try in Labs if you haven't already ๐Ÿ˜‰)
  • New Sidebar - Three-Dot Menu Button Added for The Whole Folder Tree (Almost) ๐ŸŒณ
We added a three-dot menu button upon hovering over the space name in the space switcher in the new sidebar. Also, the same button appears when you hover over any folder/project/tool within the folder tree. When you click on it the same menu appears that you would see if you right-click the name of the item in the sidebar.
We wanted to make working with Custom Item types easier for you, so we added the ability to create Custom item types right from the "green plus" button or from the item creation menu.
It works like this: when you want to create an item using Custom item types and you don't have the one you need in the list, you can click on the Customize menu and there it is, the Create new type button. When you click on the Create new type button you will now see a pop-up with the usual creation settings.
All users who are already familiar with the new Work Item view now will see it in the updated version. What changed:
  • A new panel above the task description with the assignee, status, and date fields. This can be set up from Custom item types settings - all these fields can be changed and replaced with any other system or custom field.
  • The right-side panel is now collapsable and can be hidden and brought back with one click.
  • The width of the Work item view now can be changed (made smaller).
This update is for users on the Team plan, as well as for those who already have Work Item view in their account (from using Custom item types or for any other reason).

I look forward to the Weekly Release Notes and when they impact my team's use of Wrike, I include them in our daily stand-up meetings so everyone is in the loop about new features. For example, the recent note about being able to create an item or subitem with an automation rule had a couple members of my team jumping up and down with excitement! :)

For future updates to the release notes, I would love to see some better formatting in the email version of the weekly release notes. As it is, none of the text wraps and the images are too largeโ€“making the email difficult to read (note: I am using GMail). The formatting is fine when viewed in the Wrike forums, and the emails would be significantly more legible if they just looked like that. Thanks!

Weekly or even bi-weekly release notes are great. It's good to know what's happening and what's getting better.

I'd keep the same weekly release notes, if possible, but it would be great to have a monthly recap video of what was pushed out in the month. I think you can capture quite a bit in a video and even visually see the enhancement.ย

I enjoy the weekly release notes and the level of detail in many of the updates. Oftentimes it's the small tweaks and changes that make a big difference in how we're using or setting up Wrike, and knowing those changes as soon as possible is really beneficial.ย

We look at the release as quick as possible weekly.ย  I would like that major changes (like the CIT in this release notes) are released in labs first or announced before they are published to every employee. And for new function/labs making it possible to updating to a different version manually. So we have more control on changes as admins and try them out our self first.

Because most times we read about changes after they are made. So team members may have questions before we have processed the release notes and tested/understand changes our self. If it would be possible we can plan for any instructions/manuals we have to give to our employees about the planned or made changes in Wrike.

I like getting weekly updates because it's easier to review and digest all the wonderful new things happening. Bi-weekly would be okay but, for me, monthly is too much time in between updates. I never usually have the time to review the monthly videos that are sent out. I do open these emails every Monday to see what's new and ease into my week with something fun (like new features to try out).

I really like the weekly update, hope it continues similar to what it is.

But I hope Wrike start using a new format for suggesting and voting for ideias, a more streamlined, fast and modern functionality. Maybe similar to this:

The weekly updates are valuable to ensure me, and my team can take advantage of items and features we either want or have requested. Please continue to provide updates.ย

I really enjoy the weekly updates. They are generally a quick read and very useful information. If they are saved and released once per month they will be much longer and I will not be as likely to review them if they take up too much time.ย

I like the weekly updates because it's not too much info all at once. I feel like if it was monthly there'd be so much info to wade through it would take forever. But the way they are now it's in these bite sized chunks which is great. My only feedback will second a comment above - the emails are impossible to read. I'm also using Gmail and the formatting is really bad - you have to scroll horizontally forever because the text doesn't wrap and the images are huge. I hope that can be fixed. I'd love to be able to stay in my email to read the updates.

I also love the weekly release notes too - it helps to hear and share what is new and updated.ย  I also share this regularly with my team too!

Ditto Jessie Stith's comment above re: monthly being too much. I feel the weekly are quick and easy to review but monthly may be a lot all at once. I view the updates online so no issues with the emails.

I appreciate the weekly updates, and feel I benefit from linking & looking at them directly, as a new(er) user of Wrike.ย  I hope you keep them as weekly when you resume the protocol.ย  Thanks,

I love the Weekly Release Notes!ย  It's the first thing I look for on Monday mornings.ย  They're helpful, visual, and contain links to more info.ย  I share these with our Wrike Champions group and they also find them impactful.ย  I'm fine with moving to a less frequent update ..... IF that also means that you won't be releasing any updates between them.ย  If you are releasing product updates weekly then you also need a weekly release notes to accompany them.

We LOVE the weekly release notes and look forward to receiving them. Hoping you continue with weekly but bi-weekly would also work. We find so much value in them and really appreciate them!

Thank you so much!ย

+1 Neyl Walecki's UI sketches: I would really appreciate an overview of the often parallel/overlapping topic threads that exist somewhere in the community forums and get commented and upvoted by forum members. And in that overview I would especially appreciate an indication about whether the topic thread has registered on the development team's radar.

+1 Jessie Stith's comment about the legibility of the emailed Release Notes - the screenshots and white space breaking up the text make the message very hard to read.

I didn't know this even existed so I really appreciate being asked and being shown. I wouldn't have the time to look at these weekly so a monthly update is greatly appreciated. Are these available in PDF format? Could their be a notification sent out when this is posted so we can go to where it's located to view?

The weekly notes are great and I appreciate how they're formatted with images referencing the changes. It's a nice regular reminder to check out features I may not be using or to review how we're using others.ย

I agree that it is much easier to digest all the changes in weekly updates. Having said that, if the changes are all in one feature or view, once a month would be fine.ย

I also agree that giving us a chance to try out the new features in Labs is very important. I can't answer questions about new features if I don't know how to use them ahead of my users. I need to anticipate the questions they will have.ย

I would like to see advanced notice of feature changes, slightly less frequent changes to the application (monthly is sufficient), and better controls and testing.ย  We have a controlled environment and cannot keep pace with Wrike's high velocity of changes.ย  We have also suffered at least 4 partial or full system outages in the past 1-2 months, which is not acceptable from a tool our business now leverages for many teams for a variety of workflows.

I look forward to reading the weekly release notes every Monday! Monthly might be too long between updates but maybe bi-weekly would work? I wouldn't mind seeing the upcoming changes as well so it isn't as reactive but proactive in communicating some of this to my team.ย

I really like the weekly updates but really am looking forward when they take a bit more inspiration from the product feedback that is given by users, some of the feedback is really crucial and can really help in day to day work so especially looking forward to those things. Otherwise it is always fun to read what is new in Wrike

Weekly notes are good - that way if a feature has an impact on how we work, we aren't finding out about the feature weeks after it was deployed. I think the release notes should follow the same schedule as the actual deployments.ย

A kind of database with release notes would be much better, so everybody can review realease notes in daily, weekly or whatever rythm. And even it could be searchable.
