Thanks for asking, Juan It's only happening in project type items and folders. Task type items do show the subtasks at the bottom of the description.

Thanks Pietro Poli. It is a CIT and I do have them visible there (in all of my CITs). This also happens in Item View for tasks and projects that are not CITs.
