[Status: Backburner ⏳] Moving or Duplicating Custom Item Types

I think it would be helpful to be able to move and/or duplicate Custom Item Type templates. Right now, if I make a template in a space, but then realize after using it that it needs to be account wide, I have to recreate the CIT template at the account level and change the item type of anything already created at the space level to the new one. If we could move the CIT templates from space to account or space to space, this could be avoided.

Additionally, I would like to be able to duplicate the CIT templates with all the settings/fields. I need to make a bunch of different CITs that are all very similar; workflow, visible fields, custom fields are all the same. The only difference is when filling out the custom fields. It would be much quicker to create CIT if I could duplicate the templates.

I would like to be able to fill in the custom field in the CIT template as a default setting when using the CIT, duplicate the template, change the title and custom field entry, and repeat.

Yeah I was surprised this wasn't possible. I was looking into changing over from Blueprints/Tasks to custom item types for my intake forms that load tasks based on options chosen, but I can't pre-populate custom fields in a custom item type (or Blueprint), nor do subtasks created through a form take on the properties of the main task.

Custom item types were nice because I can customize what fields show based on the type of deliverable chosen - one of the pain points in our workflow is every custom field shows up for every task. But not seeing a solution that works for my needs yet - I'm stuck with a folder called Templates with pre-populated tasks in there.

To duplicate stuff is one of the core function of wrike in the build phase. I was really suprised that was not implemented with the CITs. Now I have to do the same steps several times. I hope at least with the API function would that be possible.

The ability to duplicate an existing item type would be a big time saver for us as well.

I agree. We are building all of our blueprints/projects with CITs. This gives teams the ability to create a dashboard with the tasks that matter to them.

This is very time consuming starting from scratch each time. Many times there are only one or two updates to an existing CIT to create a new CIT. Being able to duplicate a CIT would be a huge time saver.

We definitely need the functionality to duplicate custom item types. Many of them are very similar but need one or two different custom fields visible so rather than having to recreate every one from scratch - it would save an incredible amount of time to just duplicate one that's similar to what we need and adjust.

You've got my 1up too. I usually prototype new templates and experiments in a separate space before deploying to our development spaces. I would love the ability to copy or invite new spaces access to an existing space-specific CIT. I was surprised/annoyed that I couldn't directly use what I created in my sandbox space.

Yes, this is pretty essential. we are building out CITs with a group of core custom fields in them...I'm having to do the same job again and again and again right now. painful.

This functionality absolutely needs to exist.  A team has developed and tested CIT's in their own space, and now that we want them to be account wide, or in other spaces -- we have no way to easily do this.

I agree 100%. We need this feature and this should've been added already. This was raised in Nov2022 and I hope we can do something about this.

I agree with the original post from 2022 - I created a CIT in a space but now realize that I need it at the account level instead.  It seems like I'm going to have to re-create it at the account level, mass edit all of the tasks that are using the space-CIT and update them to use the account-level-CIT instead, then delete the space-CIT.  Seems like a bit of hassle compared to moving the space-CIT to become an account-CIT.
