What's New in Wrike – July 2025

Our July edition of What’s new in Wrike is all about the latest updates for tools in spaces, dashboard AI, smart folders, custom fields, and much more.

Tools in Spaces - Folders for Tools for Organized Workspaces

Available on Team and higher plans.

You can now easily organize your side panel by grouping dashboards, reports, calendars, and other tools into folders.

Create logical categories by team, product, year, or any structure you need—making it quicker than ever to find and manage your tools.

What’s new?

  • Create custom folders in the Tools section to organize all your tool types

  • Nest folders within folders with unlimited depth, allowing for highly customizable structures

  • Effortlessly organize your workspace with drag-and-drop and renaming options

  • Folders are sorted alphabetically, making navigation quick and intuitive

Please note that deleting a folder will also remove all items contained within it. Additionally, folders are excluded from the pinned section.

Dashboards - AI Highlights (Wrike Labs Release)

Available on team and higher plans.

AI Highlights widget is a powerful new feature that provides a real-time overview of your dashboard with AI-generated highlights and insightful data points. With this widget, you’ll immediately find the most relevant information and insights every time you access your dashboard.

As part of the Work Intelligence preview bundle, you can enable this feature in Wrike Labs. For more details, check out our detailed Community post.

Smart Folders - New Filters in Smart Folders

Available on all plans.

New Filters are now available in Smart Folders: My To-do, Created by Me, Starred Tasks, Recent Tasks, Shared with Me, and even the Recycle Bin.  This enhancement brings powerful and flexible filtering capabilities, making it easier than ever to organize, find, and manage your work. Custom Fields - Add Custom Field Descriptions

Available on team and higher plans.

To provide better structure and understanding in your workspace, optional descriptions can now be added to custom fields. These descriptions can clarify a custom field’s purpose or indicate ownership, minimizing confusion and helping teams work more effectively.

Right now, custom field descriptions are available only to admins (Account and Space admins) and users with the right to edit custom fields. They can view and manage these descriptions directly in the Custom Field Editor and Custom Field Management. To know more, check out our detailed post.

Custom Fields - Copy all Custom Fields to Clipboard

Available on Business and higher plans.

You can now copy the entire table of custom fields—at both the account and space level—to your clipboard and quickly paste the data into your preferred spreadsheet tool (Excel, Google Sheets, etc.) for instant reporting or analysis.

Custom Fields - Skill Levels (Wrike Labs Release)

Available on Enterprise Pinnacle Plan.

Skill Levels custom field is now available for Enterprise Pinnacle accounts. This new feature empowers professional services teams to efficiently manage, track, and leverage employee skill proficiencies directly within Wrike. By enabling skill-based resource recommendations and streamlining talent allocation, organizations can optimize project staffing, improve service delivery, and gain a competitive edge—ensuring the right people are matched to the right tasks every time.

Wrike Views - Updates and Improvements

Available on all plans.

We’ve made it even easier and more intuitive to view and manage Wrike Views.

Here's what’s new:

  • Bulk Copy & Set Default Views: You can now copy views in bulk and set a new default for all selected locations at once.

  • More Visible Views: Projects and folders can now display more than just three views. The number of visible views adjusts to your screen size, so it's easier to access exactly what you need.

Regular Users Onboarding

Available on Business and higher plans.

Onboarding regular users is now easier than ever before - Wrike users now receive a personal dashboard that serves as a home base to keep track of their work. Additionally, a "Get started with Wrike" checklist helps new users learn Wrike by actually using it.Both the dashboard and checklist are pinned to the sidebar for easy access and discoverability.This update is available to all newly invited regular users, helping them learn and get up to speed with Wrike faster.

Mobile App Updates (iOS and Android) - New Filtering & Easier Approvals

Available on iOS & Android - Filtered Activity Streams.

Available on iOS - Edit Task Approvals On the Go.

The Wrike mobile app just got updated to help you manage work seamlessly—no matter where you are.

What's New:

  • Filtered Activity Streams (iOS & Android):

    You can now filter activity streams in any task or project—choose to view only comments or see all updates, cutting through clutter and helping you find what matters, faster.

  • Edit Task Approvals On the Go [iOS] :

    Now you can edit draft approvals directly from the mobile app, giving you more flexibility and faster turnaround.

Bug fixes & Performance Improvement:

  • Improved speed and reliability accessing tasks via Inbox

  • Space overview now loads as expected

  • Table view UI improved on Tablet devices

  • Comment threads are now always scrollable during navigation

Update your Wrike app via the App Store or Google Play to access the latest features.

API - Calculated Custom Fields Available

Available on all plans.

Calculated Custom Fields are now available via Wrike’s Public API. Your API workflows can fully leverage their capabilities.

What’s New?

  • GET /v4/customfields: Calculated Custom Fields are now returned in the response.

  • Relevant GET endpoints for tasks, folders, and spaces now include Calculated Custom Field values.

This update removes the need for external calculation workarounds and unlocks advanced automation and reporting possibilities using formula fields directly through the API.

Wrike API - Configure AI Assistant

Available on all plans

You can now integrate your preferred AI assistants into your Wrike workspace using the Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server. This integration enables tools like Microsoft Copilot, Claude Desktop, and other LLM-based assistants to seamlessly access and interact with your Wrike data.

With this capability, you can use natural language to query projects, manage tasks, and navigate folders - all through your chosen AI assistant. To get started, simply create an app as outlined here.
