User Rights by License Type

TL;DR

Wrike uses User types (Regular, External, Contributor, Collaborator, Viewer) to control permissions across the workspace. Regular Users/Admins have full access (create, edit, share, manage spaces). External Users have moderate rights, while Contributors, Collaborators, and Viewers have limited access - mostly viewing, commenting, and approving. Admins on Enterprise/Pinnacle accounts can customize these permissions.

Overview

Every User within the Wrike Service is associated with a specified User type that controls what they can and can't do within a Wrike workspace.

Warning

The Account Owners and Admins on Legacy Enterprise and Pinnacle accounts can make changes to default license types as well as create new ones. Learn more about it here.

The default permissions listed below apply account-wide on all subscription types, provided that your subscription includes the described features.

Note

Admins (including the Account Owner) have all the rights of Regular Users.

Notes

  • * On Pinnacle accounts, creating spaces and inviting new Users and guest reviewers can be restricted for Regular Users as well.
  • ** External Users can only assign tasks and projects to Users that they're already shared with. The same goes for adding another User as a follower to a task, folder, or project. It must be already shared with this User.
  • *** External users and collaborators can only @mention those Users and User groups that the task, folder, or project is already shared with.

Note

Account Owners and Admins on Pinnacle accounts can adjust rights for all User types in the account. Learn more about it here.
