Table 16. Availability

Availability: Business, Enterprise, Pinnacle. ; Unavailability: Free, Team;

Overview

All users except Collaborators, Contributors and Viewers can create tasks from blueprints.

You can quickly create an active task from within a blueprint and immediately notify its assignees so that they can start working on it. Task blueprints can be edited the same way you would edit a normal task.

Note

There's a weekly limit on mass item creation of 3000 items for FreeProfessional and Team accounts, and 12000 items for Business PlusEnterprise Standard and Enterprise Pinnacle Accounts. Wrike checks if the limit has been reached in the previous 7 days. When the limit is reached, new item creation from blueprints or via duplication is blocked until the limit is reset automatically (after 7 days) or manually (with the help of Wrike Support Team). Additionally, there's a limit of 5000 items created in bulk during one action. The same limits apply to other mass creation actions like Excel import and MS Project import.

Create a task from a blueprint

There are three ways to create a task from a blueprint:

  1. Navigate to the Blueprints section in your sidebar.

  2. Right-click on the task which you want to use for creating a blueprint and select Create from blueprint 1.

  3. From the pop-up, (optional) change the name of the task that will be created 2.

  4. Add a name prefix (optional) 3. This will be added as a prefix to the name of all work items created.

  5. Select a new location 4. Specify the project, folder, or space where your new task should be located. If you don’t pick a new location, your task will be placed in your Personal space.

  6. Specify whether or not you want to send Inbox notifications to assignees upon creation 5.

  7. Specify whether or not you want to reschedule all subtasks and set new start and end dates 6. All subtasks will be rescheduled respectively.

  8. If you want to add another, check Add another 7 then the dialog box remains open and you can launch another task from the blueprint (you can configure each task differently using this option).

  9. Click Create 8.

Note

The date picker in the Duplication dialog (for copying items and launching Blueprints) uses a standard calendar, showing Saturday and Sunday as non-working days. It does not support custom work schedules. If you select a non-working day based on your account’s work schedule, Wrike automatically reschedules the created tasks to the nearest working day.

  3. Click on the work item type that appears to the right.

  4. Enter the name of the task blueprint in the search field.

  5. Click on the name of the blueprint you would like to launch, the Create from blueprint menu appears as in the first example allowing you to edit and refine the task to be created.

In Item view, clicking Add subtask will open the context creation menu. This can be used to add a subtask created from a task blueprint.

Lastly, you can use a blueprint via the + button in the upper right-hand corner of your workspace.

  1. Navigate to the folder, project, or space where you would like to add a new work item from a blueprint.

  2. Click the + button in the upper right-hand corner of your workspace.

  3. In the search bar, start to type in the name of the blueprint you want to use.

  4. Click on the correct blueprint in the options which are listed.

  5. The Create from blueprint dialog opens where you can edit the blueprint created according to steps 3-9 in the first method described on this page.

Note

When you add permalinks to items within a blueprint’s hierarchy (such as tasks, projects, or folders), those links automatically update. After you create a project or folder from the blueprint, the permalinks point to the corresponding items in the new project or folder.
