What’s RACI
RACI (or sometimes RASCI) is a responsibility assignment matrix and an acronym for responsible, accountable, (supportive), consulted, and informed.
A RACI model identifies:
- Who is responsible for completing the task or making the decision
- Who is accountable for the project overall or must review and sign off on deliverables and decisions
- Who needs to be supportive and consulted to provide input on a particular item or task
- Who needs to be kept informed on project progress and completion
Project RACI
This template can help you go beyond the more common assignment model where you assign a project or task to a team member. This setup provides a more in-depth framework with multiple team members involved with a different level of responsibility.
This clarity of who does what is provided by the assignee field that is used for the Responsible in RACI and the user type custom fields for Accountable, Consulted, and Informed.
The Project RACI template also includes two dashboards for a quick glance at who’s responsible for what for managers (Project Manager View dashboard), and for team members (Team Member View dashboard).
In addition to that, there’s a pre-made report - RACI Team View - that you can use for progress tracking.
Would you be interested to start using the RACI model to leverage the responsibility level in your team? Or maybe you’re using this model already? Please share below 👇
This is awesome! I just completed my own little RACI matrix, in Excel, a couple weeks ago. I can see this being helpful for other users!
Definitely going to test this out ... especially to see the dashboards. Thanks!
Love the idea of using custom fields for RACI data - I think this will be very helpful!
We have built a RACI with custom fields for our projects. This helps us to use Job Roles for planning and along with assigning tasks once we have identified everyone assigned to the project.
We loosely use RACI but I am interested in solidifying that and getting it in Wrike. I like the use of custom fields to do that.
The custom field usage for this seems interesting. Will try it.
We globally use a custom filed for the accountable person of a task and use several dashboards for filtering.
But instead of an additional custom field for people whoe shuld get informed, I suggest using the follow function. It's so helpful just to type a note @followers to share news on a task, instead of copying names of (sometimes hidden) custom fields.
In addition I support the request of advanced auto-follow-settings: Advanced auto-follow settings – Wrike Help Center
It's great to know some of you are already using the RACI model 😊 We're hoping that you will consider using it if you're not currently doing it too 🤗

We are not currently using the RACI model, but this looks like a great way to start!
We are only a small business - this seems like another level of red tape that we don't need tbh
If you decide to start using it, know that there's a template for that, it can make it easier for you at the beginning 🤗

We are doing something like this in our department right now in excel. Might see if this will meet our needs instead!
Another great template, but another template that my team does not have a use for. We loosely do something similar for major projects, but it is not in wrike as people outside of our team do not/will not use wrike.
Great new addition!
We've just started using the RACI model. Excited to start integrating this into our Wrike processes!
Thanks so much for your feedback, everyone!
Jesse Summers great to hear that! It would be very interesting to know how it goes 😊 And please post if you have any questions!

Can someone provide samples on how the use the custom fields to create RACI? Are these Space Level custom fields? Newbie with custom fields!
Hi! I'm not sure how much to share, but here is the RACI chart for our New Product process.
We had a year of wild turnover right after returning to the office post-pandemic, so we use the job titles instead of peoples' names just to save me from changing the names retroactively every time someone left. :D

It has custom fields for tasks and milestones.
We don't use the milestones anymore, but I included them here so you can see how you might use two types of tasks. The task and milestone are different custom items that I can add from the "+Item" list.
You can add more information for each of the process tasks in the info screen and sidebar.
These are the RACI milestone and RACI Task info screens. I liked the different icons, it made it easy to find the milestones, but as I said, we ended up not using milestones for the RACI.
The "Responsible" person is always the assignee.
So this chart was just to establish roles as RACIs do.
In my projects, the custom fields are in the sidebar so you can refer to them.
That's the quick tour! Hope it helps.
