⚡ Releases - Wrike Goes Lightspeed and Too Many Updates to List! (10/31/2022)

Feature Updates

We are super excited to announce the release of our newly updated platform - Wrike Lightspeed! It encompasses the three core values that span across every single product launch at Wrike - ease of use, customizability, and scalability.

As well as all the exciting updates we discuss more below, Lightspeed includes a new look & feel - because as our functionality evolves, so does our design. This means a makeover for certain workspace elements like buttons and statuses and a new default theme called Midnight 👻 - go try it out!
Wrike has had an Analytics view for quite a while, but we wanted to make sure that more of you found it useful, so it was time for a re-think. In the past few months, we've completely reimagined the Analytics view to make it simpler to use and focus on the stats you need most.

The Analytics view shows you five automatically generated widgets:
  • Active tasks
  • Overdue tasks
  • Completed tasks
  • Tasks by assignee
  • Tasks by status
Analytics view is available on all Team, Business, and Enterprise accounts.

Calendars have always been a staple of the Wrike workspace, helping you organize your work and meet every deadline. We've now released the brand new Calendar view, which was previously only available from Wrike Labs together with new Board and Table views. Unlike the Calendar tool, Calendar view is populated automatically with data from the relevant source.

Calendar view allows you to quickly display your work items on a timeline to keep track of what needs to be worked on and when.

Like Analytics view, Calendar view is available on all Team, Business, and Enterprise accounts.

If you're feeling experimental and head over to Wrike Labs 🧪 you'll find two new features there waiting for you to give them a go.

-New Home Page: Our new Home page design includes updated Inbox and Assigned to me widgets, helping you get productive as soon as you enter your workspace. You can also customize the layout and size of everything on the page.
-New Sidebar and Toolbar: The new sidebar is compact but powerful and can be personalized to allow even faster navigation through your workspace. The new toolbar is smaller, more organized, and easier to use. It allows you to reorder views and features an updated settings panel for the New Board view, New Table view, Calendar view, Analytics view, and Files view.

Both of these features can be enabled for your individual Wrike account so your team members won't see the changes, they can also be disabled again at any time - so what are you waiting for? 🙂

Be sure to check out this Community post for a wrap-up on all things Wrike Lightspeed

Outside of the scope of Wrike Lightspeed, we're still bringing everyday improvements to our solution. Here's the rest of what happened last week 📆

We've launched a new plan called Team that is designed for small teams (up to 25 users) who want to better organize and manage their work. It includes features like Calendar view, Analytics view, request forms, automations, custom fields, and more. If you’re a new Team plan user, please check out our Wrike Team e-learning plan which consists of four short video courses designed for your team to get started easily 👍

The Team plan will gradually replace our current Professional plan. But not to worry, there are currently no changes for our existing users.

Feel free to reach out to your account team if you have any questions.
Until now, AI subtask creation was only available via Wrike Labs 🥼, but today it goes mainstream. All users with the right to create tasks in all plans now have AI subitem creation, which helps you organize your work faster than ever before.

Why is it now AI subitem creation rather than subtask? We’ve improved the feature so it now supports custom items. In addition, the artificial intelligence at its core now works to highlight names and dates, automatically filling in fields in the created subitems or subtasks. If you haven’t already been using this feature to create the subitems of the future, it’s time to start 🦾

Let us know your feedback on this feature under this Community post!
As you may know, custom item types can be assigned their own icon when created, this icon is visible beside the item in some places, like the item creation menu or the header of the item view.

in List view, project-type custom items would just display the generic project icon and task-type custom items didn't display any icon. We know you use List view a lot, and this didn't seem ideal, so, we've added your chosen icons. Now even in a plain old list, your custom items are just as pretty and unique as you intended them to be ❄️

Fixes

  • Project Info Button in Gantt Chart Took a Vacation 🏝
If you open one of your projects in Gantt Chart view, you can see the project info icon in the top right-hand corner. Clicking it should open a project info panel, but recently it took an unexpected break and did nothing at all. No worries because we've fixed it.

While the new sidebar and tool bar is nice, I believe the updates to the home should include an option to add additional widgets as there was before. The Assigned to me section should also allow for further customization, from the screenshot below you can see the tasks assigned but from the information provided, a user cannot determine which project/folder the task is tied to until clicking in to the individual task. Our team will need to continue to use their custom "My To Do" Dashboard until this is updated.

The new Analytics view doesn't allow you to click on the overdue task and work on them like the old view did. I know there are other ways (reports, calendars, etc.) but wondering if this will be available in the future.

I like the new look. But on the homescreen the resolution of the inbox is a mess if I zoom out.

I love the new home screen and everything does appear to be faster. However, I would love to be able to add additional widgets to the home screen. I really liked having my spaces appear there as well as my pinned items.

One more note is that is is clunky to get back to the inbox and to get to the search when you are in a project.

Hi Emily Taylor, this is not one of the released enhancements. We are currently discussing this topic with the team to see if there are any plans for this.

Hey Guys, loving the new releases especially the new look and feel of the platform.

Like Emily's comment above, we desperately need this feature to reduce the amount of reports shown within the Reports screen. This would make life so much easier in organizing this section.

I've been loving all the new updates rolling out lately, but the new Homepage is rather disappointing. The Inbox hasn't changed at all, but everything else that was useful about that page is now gone. The assigned to me list isn't helpful without including projects. Customizable widgets or the ability to add new sections (ie pins, spaces, folders) would be a huge improvement. Otherwise, keep up the great work! Really exciting to see how much Wrike has grown in recent months!

Bring the 9 dots navigation back please?!

New left sidebar is good and bad. Nice to jump straight to a space (although you could do this with one click anyway), but once in our clients/projects section, a lot of scrolling to get back up to navigate somewhere else. Not great for UX.

Blueprints needs adding to the customisation at the top also.

The 9 dots was very heavily used in our org. Can it not be added back to the new view?

Sticking with old view for now.

Hello Lisa and Wrike team! I recently turned on Wrike Lightspeed and noticed that it takes away the ability to add a task to a calendar in the table view. If I turn off Lightspeed then I am able to do it under the old table view, it is not on the new table view regardless of whether you are in Lightspeed or not. I am wondering if that is something that is being fixed for lightspeed and if that is something that will be added to the new table view? Thanks!

Hi Shermaine Russell, thank you for sharing your case with the Community. You should be able to add your tasks to Calendars when the Wrike Lightspeed experience is enabled, for instance when accessing your tasks in the New Table View:

May I please kindly ask you to double-check if this is not working for you? If so, I'll open a ticket with our Support Team on your behalf so our agents can assist you with this. Thank you!

Thanks Juan! I checked again and it is working now! I did speak with a chat rep about it so maybe they were able to escalate. Thank you for following up!
