Shortcut missing for "assign me"

peoples,

there was a very, very important shortcut for my team... the function to "assigne me" a task (with english keyboard "alt+shift+."     Why is it gone?

Whats the general reason for killing shortcuts?

Thats very painful for a team, which opens between 50 and 100 tasks per day.

This thread is not very helpful for the rest of us who are wondering why this doesn't work :-)

The shortcut was mentioned in a blog post in 2018: https://www.wrike.com/blog/25-keyboard-shortcuts-need-know-right-now/

Then celebrated by users that same year: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360001390149-Wrike-Tip-Keyboard-Shortcuts-

But now apparently it doesn't work anymore and it's not in the official reference: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/articles/210322725-Keyboard-Shortcuts

So just for the record so everyone can see, what happened to this?

Thanks!

Hi Gandalf Saxe! I think that we need help from our Support team here to troubleshoot, so I'll raise a ticket for you. After you chat with them, we could also post here about the outcome 👍

Ok. Now that I have you, I also have a general problem for the Wrike Mac app that I've seen a few times here on the community forum. Namely, if you change focus from the Wrike mac app (e.g. open another app or Alt-Tab to an already open app), when you Alt-Tab back to Wrike, there are two things wrong:

1) The cursor is removed from the app, so if you were in the middle of writing something in a text field that you wanted to continue, you have to click it again.

2) Even worse, *none* of the keyboard shortcuts work before you click anywhere in the UI.

These problems do not exist if you just open Wrike in a web browser, only on the Mac app.

I'd also really like to see the standard items in the Mac app Window menu such as "Show Next Tab" and "Show Previous Tab" so you can use the usual keyboard shortcuts for changing to next/previous tab, as well as ⌘1, ⌘2 for going to 1st, 2nd tab etc. Basic basic stuff, but just something you expect to work and work in every single other app on the Mac.

Perhaps I can address this too with this person I can chat with.

Thank you for your detailed feedback in relation to the desktop app Gandalf Saxe! You can definitely mention this to my colleagues from the Support team 👍 As for the Community, we have the Product Feedback forum, so I'd suggest also posting your feedback there. We have a process of how we work with the feedback and how we pass it on to the Product team. Here's a post on the guidelines, and here's one on what happens with Product Feedback

Please let me know if you have any questions 😊

Hi there.

Given this is a community forum, it would seem sharing the discussion here in this thread would allow the forum to do what it's designed to do. However I notice in many places there are references to this conversation moving to a ticket or elsewhere suggesting that the user go and make that ticket themselves.

I'd also like to understand what the keyboard shortcut is as it would save me a lot of time.

Searching google takes me to a wrike.com address for a post in 2021 where it states clearly the shortcut is "Shift + alt + dot" Assuming "dot" means "."

https://www.wrike.com/blog/new-hotkeys-make-navigating-wrike-a-breeze/

However, this doesn't work in practice and this section on wrike.com for keyboard shortcuts does not include it.

https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/articles/210322725-Keyboard-Shortcuts

So I see a couple different scenarios here:

Wrike official communication needs to be updated to reflect this keyboard shortcut is intentionally no longer in existence.

(and/or) There is a missing keyboard shortcut for assigning to self. Both pieces of documentation should be updated to reflect this while Wrike plans work to reimplement this feature. After which, documentation is updated again to reflect it has been reimplemented.

(and/or) There is not a missing keyboard shortcut for assigning to self, however for some users or in some clients, the shortcut is not working AND the article listing keyboard shortcuts should be updated to reflect this should be an officially supported shortcut.

hi Lisa!

(just noticed that Cansu disappeared from wrike)

Once again there are shortcuts in this article that doesn't work (anymore?):

Keyboard Shortcuts – Wrike Help Center

And I second the original post: why are the assign shortcuts gone?

Thank you for keeping this alive, Florian Kislich

As an update to my original post it does appear the outdated shortcut documentation has been removed. Thank you @cansu

In the spirit of the original post, Shortcut missing for "assign me"

>80% of the time this is what I'm trying to do.

However, not only is there not an assign to me shortcut, but the many times I want to assign to myself, the assign dropdown makes me wait for it to query users available.

Why not have "me" always present above the loading spinner in the assignee dropdown?

There isn't really any need to query the database to know that the currently logged in user exists and is permitted as an option and it would allow me to rapidly click-click-click-click through cells to fill in assignee fields.

Hi Adam Grant,

I totally agree with you! Wrike is so powerful, but in some details very annoying. I even don't unerstand why new tasks are created unassigned. Instead I'd prefer if they where autmatically assigned to the author.

The wrike app has a very good solution - if you create a new task there, you can directly chose "create a task for me". I miss this feature in the desktop app!

Of course you can use mass-editing to assign multiple tasks at once to yourself, but there's always the risk to leave some tasks unassigned, if you don't assign it asap.

I also considered creating an automation rule that assigns an unassigned task to the author - but even this is not possible.

Keep smiling! 😃

Florian

i'll totally agree with u all.
It's really hard to understand why the shortcut ist gone before a lot of month and never came back until today.

That a task is always assigned you when u create it, is perhaps not the best solutions for bigger teams.
when i start a project scheduling, there are perhaps 30 tasks i've to create ... the majority is not for myself.

But please give us the shortcut back! every to do with mouse or trackpad is not good for many decades of working on a computer.

I'd love to have both options, the shortcut and the possibility to set up a default asignee (the author or other people) by folder, project or space level. If you do so, plase support this feature request: Assign a task based on its folder/project (default task owner) – Wrike Help Center

Martin Lobst

using custom workflows for aasining persons is nice, but not a good solution for this general issue. If you could select "assign to author" or something like this it would be better.

But I mostly work in spaces shared with colleagues, and you can't set up a workflow which would assign a new task in a shared folder to the one who created it.
