Wrike Tip: Keyboard Shortcuts ๐Ÿ’ก

Let me paint you a picture: you're in your Wrike Workspace, you're typing a comment in the comment field.ย
ย
Now you can either
  • Lift your hand all the way up,ย shiftย itย onto yourย heavyย mouse,ย drag the mouse to the buttonย and then,ย clickย down on 'send'.ย
  • Or quickly hold shift+enter on your keyboard
I'm not a keyboard shortcut master, but I use "shift+enter" to send Wrike comments at least 50 times a day (not an exaggeration). Seems like a small thing and I may have been slightly exaggerating the inconvenience above, but it's definitely one of my favorite "hacks".ย
ย
That's just my favorite though - there's a lot ofย other shortcutsย available. Which ones do you guys use most?ย

I'm confused by the use of your word 'paste' in a couple places...

the announcement email you all sent with this tip ("Wrike Newsletter - February") and this post both mention pasting:

"Did you know you could paste a comment by holding Shiftย +ย ____?"

"but I use "shift+enter" to paste Wrike comment"

I have been using the terms 'copy' and 'paste' to mean something very specific in computing since about 1985, but you seem to be using it to mean 'send' or 'enter' or 'submit' or 'append' or 'save' - or am I missing something?

It would be cool if what ever text is 'copied' on my clipboard could be 'pasted' into and submitted as a comment -all in one step! (Shift+Control+V ?)

Hi Jamie, you're completely right, "paste" wasn't the right word. I just reread my original post and I have no goodย explanation for why I was confusing paste with send/submit. I just edited my original post though and replaced "paste" with "submit". Thank you so much for pointing this out!

It would be cool if text could be copy, pasted, and submitted in one step! It would honestly also make me a little nervous about sending the wrong text or links thoughย ๐Ÿ˜ณย ย

I manage a lot of "personal" tasks (i.e. tasks that don't need any other team members to be involved) in wrike, and I use different folders to label them (so they appear in the correct dashboard widget).

The two shortcuts that have helped me the most with this are:

  • Alt + Shift + .ย  to assign a new task to myself
  • Alt + Shift + D to open the folder picker and add the task to several of my private folders

The shortcut to assign a task to yourself is something I use all the time Daniel!

I get a lot of use from Alt+Shift+O, which opens the task I'm looking at in a new browser tabย too

I actually prefer Alt+Shift+F for viewing the task in fullscreen mode.ย I am a Tab Minimalist(tm) and like keeping it all in one tab.

I actually navigate to the task options to do that for some reason, I think I'll need to build up aย better habit of using that shortcut, thanks for sharing.

I suppose I like to open in a new tab when I see something in my Inbox that I need to work on very soon. So I open it in its own tab so I can continue navigating my Inbox.

Also, it's not aย popular stance, but I'mย often a Tab Accumulator which causes great horror from anyone that glimpsesย at my screen, especially Tab Minimalistsย ๐Ÿ˜…

Hi Stephen,

Do these shortcuts still work? I am using the demo navigation panel

This is what happened when I tried all four:

Alt + shift: nothing happened

Alt + shift +d: it selects the browser URL in entirety

Alt + shift + o: nothing happened

Alt + shift + f: when I opened a task and used this shortcut, it opened the browser's three-dot menuย

edit: I used the left side of my keyboard instead and Alt+shift+d on an open task opens the field to folder tag the task.

Alt+shift+f opened the task in full screen

Alt+shift+o opened the task in a new window in full screen

I am using Google Chrome on a Windows 10 PC.

Hi Victoria Kester, sorry for the late reply!ย

The shortcuts will be tested before public release. Thanks for bringing our attention to it! ๐Ÿ™‚
