Assign a task based on its folder/project (default task owner)
It would be very helpful if a project leader would be notified if somebody creates tasks in his project not assigning it to anybody
Based on the thread on a default taks owner
I wonder whether others have that problem too.It would e.g. be helpful to be able to have the project owner (or another person) as default task owner if nobody was assigned to a task. If somebody creates a task in a project the project owner should at least be notified if nobody has been assigned to the task.
Hi Beat, thank you for adding this idea to the Product Feedback section! :)
I second this - I have considered dropping Wrike because I have to constantly keep adding myself for every single task (I use this for my own work). It's enormously frustrating.
I just found the keyboard shortcut control + shift + . (period) will assign a task to yourself. I've tried it once and it worked, but not sure of limitations such as what level view you need to be in for it to work.
As a college student who has very little time to plan assignments, but nevertheless needs to, I can attest to the fact that constantly having to assigning oneself is a major nuisance, and this fact alone means that I'm looking for a new project management software. And no, bulk editing does not help much.
I need to be reminded of my tasks, to be able to quickly and easily input them during class, and to not have to deal with this kind of unnecessary hassle.
Thank you for sharing. Maybe Wrike is working on it. We can change the workflow of a folder or the default view of a folder. So maybe one day we can at least chose a default owner of unasigned tasks in a folder. Or they allow the option to activate a notification of the project owner if in projects assigned to him new tasks have been created.
I hope so too.
I think new task automatically assign to project owner or task create user, it's so very useful.
I agree! If I create a task set in the future, but forget to assign myself to the task.... it never shows up in my "To do today/this week" dashboard. I need to set myself as the default assignee, or I'm going to screw up and miss something.
Hi all, I'm wondering if having the auto-assign Status functionality set up would help here? You can create a Custom Workflow and apply it to the Folder in question. Then, depending on the Status you choose when you create a task, you can have predetermined who it should be assigned to.
It may not work for everyone's ways of working, but it might be something that helps reduce seeing tasks with no assignee at all. Take a look at the above link and let me know if you think it might help 👍
Hey Stephen - this could be a good idea for people who are working on their own, as they can set all 'New' tasks to automatically be assigned to themselves. It wouldn't work for bigger teams though as this is only applicable on an account basis, not per user.
Your relative link doesn't work by the way, I had to manually add it to the end of help.wrike.com
Hi Sergiu, I agree, thanks for your input here 👍 And I've also fixed the link now 😇
This would be extremely useful! Workflows are great, but I am not going to make a new workflow for every new project/folder and tell it who to assign tasks to for that project. Workflows are supposed to be more global, i.e. for every project. Default assignment is local, i.e. for just one project where a PM or Engineer needs to be accountable for everything in their little part of the world. Thus we are stuck assigning tasks over and over and over.
More extreme option:
Most annoying is assign to myself. If a user makes a task, it might make sense as a global default for those tasks to be assigned to that user unless a workflow dictates otherwise. No more unassigned tasks unless someone opts out!
Workflows don't appear accessible to students or people with "Professional" subscription. This is troubling the people who would probably most benefit from having this functionality like me won't have access to it.
@Kay Hi, welcome to the Forums 🙂 That's correct, Advanced statuses and workflows are available on Business and Enterprise subscriptions. Can you please provide some detail on what you'd like to achieve, maybe the Community will be able to help with some workarounds.
