Hi Raz, welcome to Wrike Community and thanks for posting 🙂
Board View has few customization features - it is mostly used to track and quickly change Task statuses. I'd recommend using Table View for adding columns (or Custom Fields) - please check out our Table View Help Center page.
Let me know if you have further questions 👍

Hi folks

Well that's sad news. I am new to Wrike and I am very much used to name my swimlanes due to my needs. The Board View is a central tool for everyone who is used to do Agile. It is no problem in the major tools like Jira, Trello or Asana. I would be very happy if I can rename the swimlanes soon. Thanks for taking it into your Backlog.

@Kate Hi, happy to see you on the Community 🙂

The Board View shows a folder or project’s tasks organized in columns by status - that is what I meant in my reply to @Raz. It doesn't provide details about tasks and comes as designed. That said, you can customize the workflows shown on the Board view. With custom Workflows and statuses, you can create a new workflow to meet a team’s needs, and add statuses within that workflow which reflect the typical statuses your tasks go through. For more information, please check out Custom statuses and workflows and Advanced custom workflows on our Help Center.

Please let me know if that answers you question and get back to me if anything's unclear 🙌

At first going through this process to rename column names (workflow), it didn't seem like it was going to work by changing the task names in template. But after saving the new workflow, returning from Account view, right clicking on folder/project, was able to apply my new workflow 🙂

I was also looking to use Wrike as a virtual Kanban for Agile (with swimlanes, progress columns), and it doesn't look to be flexible enough to do that. It's unfortunate as it would be useful in our current work from home situation.

Hi Guy Danner, happy to see you on the Community! 🙂

Could you please describe in more detail what you'd like to see on the Board View? You are correct that swimlanes aren't available. As we've discussed in this thread, it looks like Custom Workflows can help with viewing the tasks' progress at a glance (you can create a workflow with statuses like "10% complete", "20% complete" and so on). Please let me know what you think!

I'm looking to see if Wrike can support a virtual Kanban.  Generally these have columns that categorize the workflow (backlog (items not yet being worked on), to do (items to be completed in a time block), in progress (being worked on ), testing/validation (done but being verified), and done).  In addition  there are swimlanes by technical area that proceed in parallel.  I am not currently an admin, though I could get admin privileges, and it seems like to need to be an admin to change the workflow -- that could potentially resolve the columns problem.  It doesn't solve swimlanes, though.  I also don't want to invest a ton of energy retrofitting a system that isn't really setup for Kanban when there are other turnkey systems, or frankly using excel.   So that is kind of what I'm looking for.

Got it, thanks a lot for providing the details, Guy Danner! It seems that Custom Workflows that I mentioned above should be helpful in your case - please check them out and let me know how it goes. And feel free to reach out if you have any questions 🙂

Hi Lisa, Also coming here with the same question. Numerous free PM applications allow lanes customization. Wrike advertises that is an Agile tool, but it does not cover minimum agile features. Is this recommendation being considered?  Thanks,

Hi Claudia Rico, I'm moving this thread as a suggestion to our Product Feedback forum where other Community members can upvote and contribute to a Product request. I've passed on the feedback to our team as well👍🏼

Hi- Like Guy, I'd like to use this for formal Kanban. Has any progress been made to use the official terminology for this agile framework?

I cannot get this to work. I went into settings and created a custom workflow. The categories of Deferred and Cancelled are still in the workflow. And then when I go into the actual project, it's back to the original categories, which are also inappropriate for the work I'm doing. I cannot seem to connect the custom workflow the project. Nor can I get the custom workflow to actually accept my edits. Can you please tell me how I just change the categories on top of the cards for the Kanbans? I've tried all of your tutorials and none of them seem to have instructions that even mirror the view I have in my instance of Wrike (i.e.: there's no settings gear...). I have used Microsoft Planner, Trello, Monday, and Asana with absolutely no problem doing this, so I'm sure it's an incredibly easy to implement feature that I'm just missing in Wrike. Thanks for any help or updated links to how to get this done!

Hi Lisa, Adding to Amanda's comment, if this has been resolved so we can have a Kanban view, I want to know how to do that also.

Hi folks!

In order to have certain columns on your Board view, they need to be added to a workflow. If you are an account admin, you can create account-level workflows and then apply them to your projects or spaces, and then move tasks to different statuses (columns) in the Board view. If you are a space admin, you can create space-level workflows and then use them for that particular space and any items within it. If you are a regular user and can't create workflows, you'll need to use the ones that you have in the account or space, and you can also ask an account/space admin to create a new one. Does this help? I'm happy to discuss this further 🙂
