[Status: Backburner ⌛️] Duplicate Custom Item Types
Can CITs be duplicated with just a click?
I would like the ability to use an existing CIT as the starting point for a new CIT so the fields are the same. I just need a new name/symbol for different task types, but I want the selected custom fields & layout to be the same.
This would be great, and also the ability to change between Account and Space level access.
This gets my vote. It would be great to be able to use an existing CIT as the starting point for a new CIT so the fields are the same. It would save so much time, and avoid any missed custom fields.
I agree...this is extremely necessary to save us time...
Yes, yes, yes!!!!!! Exactly what I'm struggling with at the moment!
Thanks a lot for the feedback here, folks, I've let our team know about it 🙌

This would be very helpful!

I agree with this suggestion. Having the ability to duplicate would be a great feature. I'm spending a lot of time creating new items types that would only need a few quick edits if this feature were available.
Thank you for upvoting this suggestion, Nikki Richardson! We'll keep you informed if there are any new updates.

I have upvoted this too. I have recently started using a hack I found elsewhere in this community that enables hiding of unnecessary custom fields by adding them to the item type view and then hiding them. We have a lot of custom fields so having to do this manually every time we create a new custom item type is laborious and time-consuming. If we could simply duplicate a custom item type from one where this hack had already been applied that would be perfect. Is it on the team's radar or does it need a lot more upvotes?
This is a must have!
+1 upvote - again!
Still needing this!

Another upvote for this highly useful suggestion.
Another upvote here. I have several CITs with very similar fields/settings, this would save me time in setting them up and ensuring a consistent layout without having to toggle back and forth for comparison.
Custom item types can truly unlock powerful automations and thus I found myself here... Duplicate custom item types, would remove a lot of duplicative work, when I want to make small standardization changes for different production types. Please make this happen! 🙏
I support this as well. I would also request the ability to duplicate a custom item type from a standard space to a locked space and from lone locked space to another.
Please! I feel like thats an easy lift. I can duplicate (and then tweak) intake forms. I want to duplicate (and then tweak) CITs to match.
Thank you, everyone, for supporting and upvoting Laura’s suggestion 🙏 We’ll consult with the Product Team and let you know once we have an update.
