Workload chart showing effort for cancelled and completed tasks

Effort is being included for tasks in Cancelled and Completed states, even if you filter the chart to include only Active.

Is this something that can be changed?

I know there is a future update to look at effort more in a burn-down concept; but even then, there could be estimated effort that was not needed.

If the task is in a 'finished' state, it is preferred not to include the effort in the resource management views

Hello, this is impacting our workflow as well. Having an option to remove closed / completed tasks from workload would be idea.

We desperately need the workload chart to not reflect cancelled task hours as they're no longer needing to be included in the overall count since the work was cancelled.

Can we have an option to not have projects that are on Hold or Cancelled add to the overall effort in workload view? We have a large team and not everyone remembers to disable effort for these two types of tasks.

Hi Jenn Kieke, welcome to the Community! At the moment, filtering out projects in "On Hold" or "Cancelled" statuses in Resources View doesn't prevent their allocated effort to be taken into account in the calculation. May I please kindly ask you to create a separate feedback request about this suggestion?

Also, I'd like to mention that you can check our New to Community forum to discover all the resources you can find in our Community 🙂

This seems like it should be a high priority and logical fix in Wrike. How can anyone have accurate reporting if effort for cancelled tasks are being calculated? Cancelled tasks should be excluded, turned off or zero'd out automatically. Or at least offer an automation to do this!

It isn't a perfect workaround, but we're using an automation rule with the new "un-assign" option. Any time a ticket is closed in the relevant space all users are unassigned. This removes the workload from that user.

Thank you Scott for that input and very useful at the user workload level. This still does not solve the issue of the effort still calculating in the project itself. So when we report on effort spent for an overall project, cancelled tasks are still being included whether someone is assigned to it or not. You have to manually go in and remove or turn off effort for each cancelled task in the project which is not efficient.

Hi Pia Rice, welcome to the forums 👋

We don't have an update at the moment, but maybe the workaround Scott shared above could work for you? Please let me know.

Hello! I also need the completed& cancelled tasks to be removed from the workload. Is there any updates on this feature?

I agree, this is basic functionality to at least filter this view like any other area.

Hi everyone! We've looked into this topic again and would like to suggest the following solution:

  • In the task filters in Workload select only status groups you want to see in calculations for example, "All active" (see the first screenshot)
  • Make sure that Workload visual setting in the three dot menu has "Displayed tasks only" selected (see the second screenshot)

This way not selected status groups (canceled, completed, deferred) will not affect workload calculations. Please try it and let us know how it goes. Thank you!
