Tracking/filtering views of tasks that are currently being timed

I sent in a support ticket on this and they mentioned the feature was not currently available but that I should post it here.

I was wondering if there is a way to see a list of tasks that are currently being tracked. For example a way to setup a dashboard or filter that shows items that someone has clicked the play button on, and are currently being timed.

For our team it would be helpful to track what is actively being worked on and not just in someone's queue.

Hi Austin. Thanks for posting. You've definitely posted in the right place. Now, other members can vote and discuss this idea and our Product Team can refer to this post during any internal discussions.

There are some solutions I can suggest to create a Dashboard that shows this detail, however, please note it requires some manual actions from you and your team:

1. Create a Dashboard Widget based on a new Custom Field:
Create a checkbox Custom Field called 'Time Tracking'. Communicate to your team that this checkbox needs to be ticked when they start Time Tracking on any task. You can then create a custom Dashboard widget and use Filters to choose the checkbox Custom Field. The Dashboard will then show all tasks where the checkbox is ticked (you would, however, have to remember to uncheck the box when you're done tracking time).

2. Alternatively, create a Dashboard named, for example, 'Task Tracking' and share it with anyone who needs it. Then create a parent Folder with the same name, share it with your team, and add this Folder to the Dashboard you created from the List View. You can then request your team to Tag this Folder in any tasks they use the Time Tracker with (by simply dragging the Folder to the task they're working on). These tasks will then show up in your 'Task Tracking' Dashboard. They would need to untag the Folder when they're no longer tracking time to see only active tasks being timed on the Dashboard.

I understand these options are a little manual though I'd love to hear back with your thoughts on these options.

I also want to mention this post from Marc. While not totally the same, it's very similar to your request so it might be in your interest to vote and comment your use case there too.

Thanks again for sharing and if you have any questions, I'm here to discuss!

It would be useful to be able to see tasks that have a timer running.  We often here from team members that they forget to turn off the timer.  If we could see the tasks that are being tracked it would be easier to curb the forgotten timers.
