I need a Custom Field type to be "Link" whereby a HTML link becomes clickable.

Example Custom Fields:

Google Drive Folder

URL

etc

ย 

Currently, one must use TEXT type field, and manually copy/paste the HTML link.

Us as well! It would also be very useful to be able to create a link concatenated from another custom field, so for example, once we have created a video in our platform, we could put the id in the "video id" custom field, and have that populate a link to the video edit page in our platform. This would rocket up our efficiency!

@wrike... Any updates since April?

We would also like this functionality as a custom field for shipment tracking URLs that we use all the time in our projects.ย  It's much faster to put in a URL that links directly to the tracking number in the carrier's system (i.e. UPS, FedEx, XPO, etc) than to provide the team the tracking number that they need to manually enter online each time they want to pull up tracking.ย 

I know that it's a feature in the comments and description to add hyperlinks, but it would be nice to have that link populate into Table, Reports, and Dashboard views for quick access rather than navigating into each task for the info.ย  Please consider adding this simple hyperlink functionality soon!

Hi Wrike Community Team moderator(s)... the request for this incredibly-basic functionality was made inย  2 0 1 7 .

From what I can gather in this thread, Wrike's response has repeatedly been, in general, "We'll write you this vague-interest message with no commitment to ever get back to you with a reason why this has floundered into its FIFTH year."

The only plausible explanation here is that Wrike knows this is a point of incredible dissatisfaction for its customers (one that is ridiculous on almost every level) except if spreadsheet makers are paying Wrike to keep from introducing it.ย  My team has to turn to spreadsheets rather than use Wrike because this stone-age "feature" is missing.

This is what Wrike customers have to do, make up stories, because Wrike won't be transparent with the hands that feed it.

It's true when we say that we pass on the feedback and the vote count here, you can read more about what happens with your feedback here. In short, we check with the team regularly to see if there are any changes planned by the team. Some of the Community suggestions get implemented into the Product (you can check the pinned threads in the Product Feedback forum to check out last year's launched ideas), but the team always has to prioritize feedback over various factors and they can't commit to implementing every suggestion on this forum (even though they'd love to be able to do that).ย 

I'm checking with the team now to see if there are any updates regarding this particular idea and I'll let you know once I hear from themย ๐Ÿ‘

Just think about it: Wrike is a web-based application. Everything today is web-linked.
We go from one place to another using... links.ย 

Having intelligent links in Wrike itself as custom field is a no-brainer.

We currently use Wrike as our development task engine, to develop new features but also as our issue database. Being able to store in a custom field an orderID, and then magically get a URL back to view that actual order would be such a life saver.

And all it takes is... CONCATENATE two STRINGs in a calculated field.

Why is this not on your list of "high-value, absolute low cost" features? Please...

I understood the original request as to be even less... But maybe you interpretation shows that the solution may be understood as complex to be valuable. Which I would not see this way. Allowing a click on a value (being a complete absolute http/https url) shown in a table view to open the link behind would do a first job.ย 

Such attributes could simply be defined to behave as such (e.g. a new type url or link) or be even only flagged (e.g. "Show as link in Table view").ย 

At a later stage there could be enhancement like

  • Allowing display values
  • Calculate links
  • Support links also for list view or Gantt view

But from my point of view this is all optional. Links in Table View would provide a lot of benefit with nearly no efforts/side effect.

PLEASE add this! We add proofing URLs to our tasks as an integral part of our wrike process. This is really important, and it seems like it shouldn't be that hard of a new feature to add in. I'm disappointed to see that someone initially asked for this back in 2017 and it still has not been implemented.

I came to the forum to create exactly this feature request only to find that it was the most requested feature already.

We need this in order to provide links to arbitrary services (Google Drive, Onedrive, Dropbox, ticketing systems, etc.)

@Lisa,ย Need to request this for our company's platforms as well--linking via custom fields is an incredibly vital tool for our company to continue using Wrike with any degree of efficacy. Is there any semblance of a timeline? I notice this request was initially made in 2017, and combing through the thread I haven't seen any roadmap expectations.

If need be, I can escalate with our Wrike point-of-contact about possible customization for our account, but this is a fairly basic feature that it seems a generous portion of the userbase desperately needs.

What a bummer. Not going to be able to defend our post-production film team from using one of your competitors because the three external hyperlinks per taskย they require to do their work will be so cumbersome to manage. This is a blow to our adoption of your product.

Hi, Lisa. ย It would be help me understand Wrike's development priorities if you could explain how it could possibly take more than three years to "research" such a simple and obviously necessary feature that clearly has great community demand. ย 

As a customer, I have an expectation that a company with which we work is able to evaluate the available data and make some type of decision in a reasonable amount of time. ย If you are unwilling to implement this feature, just let people know, so those who need it for their workflow (Wrike is only part of a data, workflow, and project management system in most enterprises, and must be able to interoperate with other software) can begin migrating away from Wrike.

If you plan on implementing the feature, it is only fair that customers are provided with a reasonable feature roadmap so that they can make plans that accommodate the expected implementation timeframe.

They'd found some obstacles to be able to work on it previously, but they started the research of this suggestion again this year. Just want to bump this again, it's especially difficult when we have users in my org who have a Collaborator role and cannot even copy the link from the custom field. This is a huge issue and shouldn't need an extra step on my end each time someone wants to go to the link I'm sharing. Upvoted and followed.
