Global Default View Change

Would anyone else be interested in being able to change the default view on multiple projects all at once?  I understand we can do that for each project individually and would enjoy having that option for all projects.

Thanks!

Hi Matt, I think an existing feedback post would be of interest to you. Members are suggesting here, a Workspace setting to select a default view for larger groups of Folders. If this interests you please upvote the original post there.

Thanks again for sharing your idea here 👍

I agree with this! I most often use "list" view in projects so I can more easily see the notes (though browsing through the forum I see many people find list view the least useful). It would be so helpful for individual users to set the default they find best on projects.

Hey Ali Thompson, thank you for reaching out!

Have you tried using the New Wrike Experience? It's possible to set up a default view on the space level

Please let me know if that helps, or if you have any questions 🙂

Lisa I am using the new user experience. It looks like setting that default view sets it for all members of that space? Different people may have different preferences.

That said, I checked this and it looks like list view is set as default for the space I use most; however, projects often come up in table view and I have to switch it. Not sure why that would happen when the default is set to list.

Ali Thompson You're right, when you set up a default primary view, anyone opening the folder, project, or space will first see it in that view. But on the individual level, it's also possible to set up custom views.

I'm going to check with our Support team as when you set a view as default, it shouldn't switch to different views as you describe. Someone from the team will reach out to you ASAP 👍

Hi Ali Thompson, please note that default view settings are set up on each folder/project individually, and that why the selected option for Space is not inherited onto the sublevels.
During the Project/Folder creation users can set the default view that may be different from the default view set for Space:

Also, if your projects used to come up in the List view before, it might be that your colleagues changed the default view by clicking on the three-dot menu button > "Set as default".

If you feel that the ability to push the default view settings to projects/folders in a Space will enhance your Wrike experience, I invite you to share your idea on the Product Feedback section of the Community. That's the best way to share your needs with our Product team. I've also found similar feedback on a push view down feature for Configurable views. You might want to upvote this one too. Thank you in advance!🙌

This would be super helpful. We want to be able to have one default view for all projects. sub projects and spaces. Having to go through and create these and update over a hundred areas is a daunting task. It would be great if there was one location where the default view could be set for all spaces, projects, folders, and sub projects.

Has there been an update on this? Suddenly all of our projects are showing up in table view, when we always use list view. Any ideas?

Hi Emily Taylor thank you for bringing this to our attention. Do I understand correctly that your existing projects are still in List view?

When creating a new subfolder or subproject in an item that has List view as the default, it is expected that the new item will be in Table view as the default. However, it is still possible to switch to List view.

That said, please allow me to suggest avoiding this, as the List view will be sunsetted, and the Table view has much more to offer! You can even make the Table view look similar to the List view and still take advantage of all its benefits. If you'd like to share more details about your use case, please feel free, and we will be glad to assist you with your transition from one view to the other 🙂

I had read previously that there would be a new version of list view available in the future (e.g., classic view would be retired), not that it would be sunsetted entirely. Can you confirm whether list views will stop being available, and if so, when? We prefer the list view over the table view for many of our projects and would appreciate any additional information. Thank you!

Hi Hannah O'Regan ! Welcome to the Wrike community 🎉

Thanks for checking in! We're planning to phase out the List View as we transition to the New Table View. This new setup combines the best of the List and classic Table Views, giving you a more comprehensive working environment. Accounts created before June 9th, 2023 can still access List View until it’s fully phased out, but we don’t have a specific timeline for that yet.

I’d love to hear more about why you prefer the List View over the Table View. Your feedback is really valuable!

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Hello - I do not see a way to mass edit tasks in the Table View, whereas its easy to see in List View. And if you select tasks (one at a time, which takes time) you cannot: Unassign task from specific users or Remove task from specific folders/projects.

Hi Emily Taylor 👋

Thanks for reaching out. You can mass edit tasks in the table view by following these steps:
  1. Navigate to the folder, project, or space where your tasks are located.
  2. Select the tasks you want to edit by clicking the checkbox to the left of the task names.
  3. A toolbar with various mass editing options will appear at the top of the table view.
  4. Select the appropriate mass editing option from the panel.

For more information, please check out our Help Center article.
I hope this helps! Do let us know if you have any more questions. Thanks!

What will happen to List View when it is phased out? Will it the view switch to Table view?

For instance, on an existing project with both Board view and List view, where List view is the default, will List view be removed or will Table view take its place? And will then Table view become the default view?

My preference would be for Table view to replace List view and remain as the default view.

Hi John M Kenny, apologies for such a late reply. This was the intention - to replace List with Table, is it how it's working for you at the moment?
