[Status: Backburner ⏳] Shorter Job Numbers or shortlinks
The option to display job numbers is helpful (especially for users used to working with other tools like JIRA)
however the numbers are rather long even if you don't have many projects / tasks yet.
I assume wrike uses a global id for all accounts?
It would be very helpful if you could start from zero.
(and use either an internal id just for the account or even better an id for each folder / project)
An alternative would be to generate a shortlink or provide the option to define a unique key for the folder / project which is easy to memorize if needed and which can be entered in the searchbox.
We left Wrike years ago because it couldn't do this. It's interesting to look at four years of people requesting custom job numbers, and Wrike's continued dismissiveness of those requests. We really like the Wrike environment and would pay to have custom job numbers, since we have a compliance need that must be met. Wrike, it's the opposite of good business to ignore these many people asking for this function.
Hi Greg Batiansila, welcome to the Community! I'm sorry to hear you had to leave Wrike!
This Product Feedback forum exists in order to give anyone an opportunity to share feedback about Wrike, but unfortunately, the team can't commit to implementing every suggestion here. It's still very useful for the team to be able to read the feedback here to plan possible future enhancements, but for now, this particular suggestion isn't on their short-term plans.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts here, I've passed your feedback to the team!

Just an observation... to all the people needing to use specific numbers.... I'm wondering why you just don't create a space with the label you need??????????????? Then you can put whatever tasks subtasks projects etc into that space. You can give it any number prefix or tag you please. What am I missing here?
And yes, it is a good feature to allow users to fully customize their use of an app because after all everyone's data is just a table in the cloud at Wrike, but I'm also wondering why the tail must wag the dog. I see only 127 upvotes (in 3+ years mind you)... so all the complaining about how Wrike isn't responsive to the needs of its users is extremely myopic. I think they have more than 127 users, and though your improvement might be the most important thing in the world to you, please remember this is now a global community and a global workforce which means your ask is in a pile along with thousands of other asks....
Now as for the "new experience" I think you have your answer that they have been busy. And no, I don't like it but the tail cannot wag the dog. I think it is horrible business practice to completely re-design things (like MicroSoft, Apple, and other behemoths do) but users have no choice but to re-learn things after every new UX/UI rollout. Familiarity with an interface breeds speed and productivity. Every time companies scramble everything up because some new manager or executive thinks it a good idea... doesn't mean it's a good idea. But again, the tail does not wag the dog unless you are an executive ;)

Hi Lisa! Trust me I lit up the feedback lol. Some of what I passed on to them:
I think the spaces on the homepage are useless due to all the real estate they consume, and the truncation due to large fonts (better get used to naming your spaces with 15 or less characters...).
If I could pin the hamburger, that would be great but at least it's a click away to see all the spaces (and their names aren't truncated).
Personally, I like to see as much as possible on one screen and the new experience goes the opposite way. Any time I have to leave the keyboard to grab the mouse and scroll is a time-waster. The approach they took is like going from lego blocks to duplo blocks :) Bigger is not better in this case. I think they should take a look at iTunes or Plex when it comes to how to present information in the most efficient and intuitive manner possible. Those apps have to present large amounts of data in the minimum amount of space and are quite successful at it, and they allow users to zoom in/out to show more/less... heck even windows explorer does that with different views (detail, large icons, small icons, etc).
That all said, I did take the plunge into the new experience. I figure it's better to get used to navigating it now than later when I'm forced to.
Thanks a lot for sharing John Rakoczy, I'll pass your feedback from the Community side as well, just in case 👍

Plus one for me too. Our organization covers several internal clients with hundreds of tasks/projects per month. I love Ken Paynter's snapshot of a widget that could create a prefix, number and postfix!
It's early days for us with Wrike. If another PM system like WorkFront (now owned by Adobe) comes along with a numbering system, we may have to jump ship!
Hi Patrick Burd, thank you for adding your support here. Would you like me to ask your Customer Success Manager to get in touch with you to discuss your use case? Please let me know.
Hi Cansu, yes, it would be great if you could get in touch with our CSM regarding a project numbering solution. Thanks!
+1 for use at our organization, too.
Hi Stephanie Bannister, thank you for supporting here!
I don't have an update for this suggestion at the moment - it remains Backburner for now. Any news in the future - we'll make sure to let you know 👍

Would also love to see this feature. Currently we use a google sheet to track the last number in the series we manually assign. Our job numbers for Marketing are "MKT-100, MKT-101..." we'd like to see shorter and addition of a unique prefix as multiple teams begin to use the system.
Hello Nicole Macias, welcome to the Community, and thank you for chiming in here! We'll be sure to update you here if there are any changes 🙋🏻♀️
@... Any updates from the product team? How is the roadmap looking this year?
I upvote Nicole Macias and the original post. This feature would be great!
Hi Naomi Rivas, thank you for checking in here, the suggestion here remains a backburner for the moment. We have a dedicated forum where we share all our Product releases, updates, and improvements, please don't hesitate to follow our Weekly Release Notes 👀
Upvote here too. Our organization uses project codes assigned to grant based work and generally like to start Wrike Projects with the 4-digit code attached, being able to customize this to connect those would be a time saver so someone wouldn't need to go in and manually change this. We are just now beginning to use request forms and I can already see this is a need.
Hi Eric Fiero, thank you for chiming in here and sharing your use case. I'm passing it on to the team👍🏼
Another upvote here.
Upvote - we could really use this feature.
Thank you for adding your support here Kim Barrett!
Upvote from me also - I have used Wrike at a previous org and have just convinced my current workplace to implement it, but they are very set in using numerical sequences for projects/tasks/sub-tasks such as 1.2.14
It would be great to have the option to create dynamic prefix/suffix on project tasks.
I wholeheartedly agree with Greg Batiansila's comment from March 2021. Four-plus years is a very long time to leave something on the "backburner". For something that would save users and admins so much time and frustration, is it not worth it? When you see competitors offering this feature, does it not give you pause? Hello?
Funny that this has been going on since July 2017 with little to no response for such a very basic function. This should have been one of the very first things to have been implemented for a project tracking tool.
Hi everyone, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and thoughts here. I'm checking with the team to see if there is an update here, and we'll be back🙋🏻♀️
Hi everyone, the team has confirmed that this request remains as a Backburner. I know this will come as disappointing news, but the team is focused on the implementation of other updates and features that take priority such as the further development of our Lightspeed features, and as such, there are no plans for this.
Our Product team is aware of the need and demand for this specific functionality and although we can understand how this would be beneficial, there is still an opportunity for this suggestion to be implemented in the future and this is where votes and feedback matter. Please do continue to share your feedback here and encourage others to upvote this suggestion as all of this will be passed on to the team and will help illustrate how sought after this functionality is.
I hope this helps, if you need any more information, or if there's anything else I can help with here, please do let me know.
5 years, 143 comments and 163 upvotes later and it's still not enough? 😂
Hi Danzel Tay, thank you for reaching out. I do understand where you are coming from, yet the team has to prioritize their commitments also taking into account information from data and analytics, research outcomes, and reviews, and all of these elements together to determine if a suggestion should and can be worked on.
In case you'd be interested to discuss your use case in more detail with a Wrike representative, please make sure to let me know 🙂
Blows my mind that you do not offer this extremely essential and easy to add feature. Project management 101. Wrike will not work for us without this....smh
Hi Bradley Thompson, welcome to the Community!
Wrike offers permalinks for tasks, folders, projects, and spaces. You can read more about them here. Folders, projects, and tasks also have IDs, for example, here's an article on task IDs.
It would be great to learn a little more about your use case to see whether these options could work for you!

Please add this functionality. We need to be able to customize and shorten the ID. We use these ID numbers in file names and it creates ridiculously long names. It seems like a really basic thing that should have been there from the beginning.
