[Status: Not Planned] Drag & Drop directly from Outlook

Dear Wrike,

I am a new user, starting to intensively use and love your product very much.

The thing I am missing at the moment is a possibility to drag & drop an email to task (as attachment) directly from Outlook.

Workaround is to copy the email to computer desktop and then drag/upload it to Wrike but it is not as convenient as doing it directly from Outlook.

Greetings from Serbia!

Hi Ivan, welcome to the Community! While this isn't something we're currently working on, it's an interesting idea, thank you for sharing it. Something I wanted to mention is that you can use Email Integration to send emails right into Wrike to create or update tasks :) Let me know if you have any questions about this feature, Ill be happy to help!

I second a vote for this feature. Currently the need to find, then copy a permalink into an email to be forwarded to Wrike is extremely counterproductive. We desperately need a way to simply adding emails into a Wrike project.

Thanks!

It would be great to either drag and drop an email to a task, project or folder, or even have an option with the email client to attach the email to the relevant area within Wrike. For example, HubSpot has an integration that works well with Gmail and Outlook so that I can choose to include any email I send to the comms thread in the HubSpot folder. Something similar within Wrike would be the icing on the cake as currently there is no convenient way to include messages from our non-Wrike using contacts. Just as an aside, we have hundreds of supply partners and it is not practical to include them in all of our projects.

Thanks, Stuart

Stuart, thank you for commenting here! Not sure if you've had a chance to try this out, but it sounds like Email Integration could help with the workflow you described. Happy to hear your thoughts on this!

Hi Anastasia,

I've been looking for that, thank you! Everything I was reading was about creating tasks from email - I guess I should start looking a little closer...!

Thanks,

Stuart

It would make life a lot easier (and faster) to be able to drag and drop from email attachments instead of having to save them to my comp to upload, to only have to delete them afterwards!

Thanks,

Lauren

Hi Lauren, we have a new Outlook add in coming soon where you will be able to create a Wrike task from Outlook and any attachments will be added to the task. Also if you add a comment to a Task from your Outlook email, the email attachment will be added to the task too. We'll update you here once these new features are available. I can understand how a drag and drop option would be useful too, so thanks for sharing!

I agree 100% that it would be extremely helpful to add the ability to drag and drop an email into a Wrike project. Our team finds it very time consuming to use the "Create a Task" feature in Outlook to attach an email to a project. The current system of adding an email as a task this way is very slow and I don't want the emails to be "tasks," but rather, attachments to the parent project...

Wrike team,

  •  provide us ability in the forum to respond to a specific post instead of keeping it sequential flow
  •  second what Lauren was asking for - need ability to drag an attachment from email to wrike task directly instead of saving to location - will be huge time saver; while email integration exists - we dont need to create tasks for each email

Does this feature exists? if no - idea when it would be released?

Agreed.  I typically copy an email and paste it into various emails or existing tasks.  Would appreciate that or a drag and drop feature to speed up work.

Totally agree! Having the ability to drag emails into a task, as a reference or file, would be super helpful! It's less about creating a task from the email and using the email as additional context for the task. For example, being able to attach an email thread about a decision to the task that performs the work associated with that decision. It's less about assigning/establishing the task and more about providing context and reference within the task.

Hey Audrey Hornick-Becker and everyone!

Now that we have 60+ votes here, we've checked with the team again and asked to add a status here. For now, this feature isn't planned, which is reflected in the status here. We appreciate your feedback and we'll continue sharing it with the team.
