Gauge Widget in Dashboards

Overview

The Gauge widget provides instant, color-coded insights into your most important metrics, such as progress, workload, and budget, directly in your dashboards. Its space-efficient design makes it easy for anyone to quickly spot what’s on track or at risk, with intuitive green, yellow, and red dials based on how high the value is.

The Gauge widget works just like the Indicator and KPI widgets, helping you visualize data at a glance.

Why use the Gauge widget?

  • View key metrics like progress, workload, or budget usage at a glance.

  • Identify risks quickly with color-coded dials.

  • Share a clear, universal format that works for every role.

  • Save dashboard space while highlighting important data.

Where Is the Gauge Widget Useful?

The Gauge widget is designed for a range of use cases. Here’s how it helps different teams:

  • Project completion: Track the percentage of completed work.

  • Workload/capacity utilization: Monitor how much capacity is used or planned.

  • SLA adherence/on-time delivery: See average completion times.

  • Budget utilization: View budget usage as a percentage.

  • Time/effort tracking: Compare time spent to planned effort (using custom formulas).

  • Goal/KPI tracking: Measure progress toward goals (e.g., leads generated vs. goal).

  • Ticket resolution rate: View the ratio of issues closed to issues opened.

  • Milestone/phase completion: Count completed tasks or projects.

Tip

Use the Gauge widget for any metric where you want a quick, visual status check.

How to Add a Gauge Widget to My Dashboard?

  1. Navigate to the Dashboards section 1 in the sidebar, click the caret icon 2 next to the dashboard title, and select the relevant dashboard from the list 3.

    Note

    If you don’t see Dashboards in the sidebar, click More button 4 and choose Dashboards from the list.

    OR

    Navigate to the relevant space and open the preferred dashboard from the Tools section 5 in the sidebar.

  2. To add a new widget, click + Widget 6 in the top-right corner of the dashboard and choose custom widgets from the list, or click + Custom widget to create one from scratch.

    OR

    To edit an existing widget, click the three-dot menu 7 in the top-right corner of the widget and select Edit 8 from the drop-down menu.

  3. In the widget editor, choose Gauge 9 as the widget type.

  4. You can modify the widget data 10 depending on how you want to visualize the information.

  5. Click Create widget 11.

    The widget will be created and added to your activity dashboard.

Tip

You can use the filtering options 12to adjust how your data is displayed in the Gauge widget.

How to Customize the Gauge Widget?

  1. Open the Gauge widget editor view.

  2. Click Design layout 1 in the top-right corner of the editor view.

  3. You can customize the view by using the following key features:

    • Display your metric as 2:

      • Absolute: Displays only the numeric value.

      • Ratio: Displays your metric as a value out of a Total, with options for Status group and Due date.

      • Percentage: Shows the value as a percentage of a Total, with options for Status group and Due date.

    • Set the value range 3: Adjust the minimum and maximum values for your metric.

    • Decimal places 4: Choose how many decimal places to display.

      Note

      Selecting Automatic will show only the first 3 significant digits. For example, 9,999 would show as 9.99K, and 3.141 would show as 3.14.

    • Data Display Components 5:

      • Tick marks: Show the value range visually on the gauge.

      • Labels: Display numeric value indicators.

    • Select a single color for your widget 6.

      OR

      (Optional) Select Conditional 7 Color Rules.

      • Create rules to change the gauge’s color based on its value.

      • Choose the metric, set a value range, and assign a color (red, amber, or green) 8.

        Note

        You can add multiple rules to cover different value ranges.

  4. Click Save changes 9 to apply your customizations.

Note

  • The Display as options (Absolute, Percentage, Ratio) appear only for certain metrics, like Overdue or Overdue Approvals.

  • Value range settings are available only with the Absolute display type.

  • The values you can use for rules depend on your display type. For Absolute, you can enter any number. For Ratio, the denominator must be between 0 and the numerator. For Percentage, values must fall between 0 and 100.
