Add a Dashboard Widget to a Whiteboard

TL;DR

Copy a Wrike widget link, paste it or add it via Insert → Wrike widget to embed it on a Whiteboard in read-only mode, then open it in a modal to interact with it. Use a public widget link so people without Wrike access can still view the data.

Dashboard Widgets on Whiteboard Overview

You can embed a live Wrike dashboard widget on a Whiteboard so your team always sees up-to-date data. The widget appears in read-only mode on the Whiteboard, and you can open it in a modal window to interact with it when needed.

Before you start

  • Make sure you have access to the Wrike dashboard and the specific widget you want to embed.

  • Decide which link type to use:

Embed a Wrike Dashboard Widget in Whiteboard

Step 1: Copy the widget link from Wrike

  1. Open your dashboard in Wrike.

  2. On the widget you want to embed, click the three-dot menu 1 on the widget title.

The widget link is now copied to your clipboard.

Step 2: Add the widget to your Whiteboard

You can add the widget to the Whiteboard in two ways:

Option A: Paste the link directly

  1. Open your Whiteboard.

  2. Paste the copied widget link directly onto the board.

  3. Whiteboard automatically detects the link and embeds the Wrike widget.

Option B: Use the Insert menu

  1. Open your Whiteboard.

  2. In the toolbar, click Wrike Widgets 1.

Your Wrike dashboard widget now appears on your Whiteboard.

    Note

You can embed a link to a widget only. You can’t embed a link to an entire dashboard.

If you paste a public dashboard link (not a widget link), Whiteboard creates a sticky note with the link instead. Double-click the sticky note to open the dashboard in a new tab. The dashboard does not appear on the board itself.

View and Interact With the Widget

  • On the Whiteboard, the widget appears in read-only mode.

  • To interact with it, double-click the widget or click the icon in the top-right corner of the widget.

  • The widget opens in a Board modal, where you can use the widget as you would in Wrike (based on your Wrike permissions).

    Tip

    • If you work with external viewers or collaborators who don’t have Wrike access, use a public widget link so they can still see the data.

    • If you see a placeholder instead of the live widget, check the viewer’s Wrike permissions or switch the widget to use a public link.

    • Keep widget filters and settings simple so the embedded view is easy to read on the board.
