Stickies, Shapes, and Icons Overview

You can add stickies to a Whiteboard to capture and organize your ideas. This article shows you how to add and customize stickies, and arrange them exactly where you want on the Whiteboard. Use shapes like rectangles, circles, triangles, lines, arrows, double arrows, or the pen tool to visually connect stickies and build simple flowcharts. You can also add icons to illustrate your ideas and change sticky colors to structure your content and keep everything clear.

How to Add Stickies on a Whiteboard

Whiteboards help you collect and organize ideas with your team. You can add stickies, fill in details, and move them to the right spot on the Whiteboard.

To add sticky to your Whiteboard:

  1. Open the Whiteboard

    Open the Whiteboard where you want to add your idea. You can access it from a shared link or from the activity picker 1. To add Whiteboard click Select 2.

  2. Start a New Idea

    Click the Sticky note 3 in the toolbar and select one of the available stickies to add a new idea.

  3. Enter Your Idea Details

    Fill in the fields for your idea 4.

  4. Send Your Idea

    When you’re ready, click on the Whiteboard to add your idea.

  5. Move Your Idea

    To organize your idea, press and hold the idea card, then drag and drop it to the right place on the Whiteboard.

Organize Ideas With Shapes on Whiteboards

Shapes help you visually organize and connect ideas on a Whiteboard. You can create as many flowcharts as you need using rectangles, circles, triangles, lines, arrows, double arrows, or draw freehand with the Pen tool.

How to use shapes on Whiteboards

  1. Select a shape

    In the toolbar, click Shapes 1 or click the three-dot menu 2, then select Shapes 3. A menu opens with all available shape options.

  2. Draw and adjust shapes

    Click and drag on the Whiteboard to add a shape from the Shape library. To resize or reshape it, drag the points on the shape to adjust its path.

  3. Customize color and transparency

    Change the outline or fill color to match your design.

    • Set the outline to transparent to remove the border.

    • Make both the outline and fill transparent to hide the shape.

  4. Switch shape type

    To use a different shape, select your current shape, then choose a new type from the options.

  5. Edit text inside shapes

    Click inside a shape to add or edit text. The shape automatically resizes to fit your content.

  6. Rotate shapes

    Select the shape, then use the rotation handle to turn it to your preferred angle.

  7. Connect ideas with lines and arrows

    Use lines, arrows, or double arrows to connect shapes and ideas. You can adjust the style, thickness, and type of each connector for clarity.

Add Icons to Your Whiteboard

Icons help make your Whiteboard more visual and engaging. You can quickly add icons to highlight ideas, organize information, or add a bit of flair.

How to add icons

  1. Open the Insert menu

    Click the three-dot menu 1 button at the bottom of your Whiteboard.

  2. Choose icons

    Select Icons 2 from the menu.

  3. Search for icons

    Type a keyword in the search bar to find the icon you want 3.

    Try searching for themes like arrow, star, or check to quickly find popular icons.
