Creating Subfolders
All users except collaborators can create and edit subfolders.
Note
This option might not be available on Business accounts and higher due to custom item types suggestions settings.
Subfolders live within parent folders and help you organize your workspace. Apart from their location within the folder structure, subfolders have the same properties as folders. You can add tasks, color-code, share, and even add additional levels of subfolders.
It's possible for a subfolder to have multiple parent folders or projects. These are generally referred to as tags.
Subfolders are automatically shared with all users who have access to the parent folder, but users in Enterprise accounts can use selective sharing to change this.
Because subfolders are just folders inside other folders, they can be created in the same way.
-
Navigate to the space where you want to create a subfolder and then open the folder you'll use as a parent folder.
-
-
Click the + 1 in the top right of your workspace and select Folder from the drop-down.
or
-
Right-click a folder or project or click the Three-dot menu 2 in the sidebar of a space and choose Add item and select the Folder from the drop-down.
or
-
In Table view, click the + item 3 and select Folder from the dropdown. Enter a name of your subfolder and click Enter.
You can edit your subfolder from its Folder item view.
-
-
Enter your subfolder's name 1.

Note
By default the location from which you created the folder is selected. When you're creating a folder from the workspace your Personal space is selected by default.
-
Choose the subfolder's default workflow 3.
-
Select the Folder option 4. Depending on how you created the folder, it may already be selected.
-
Choose the default view 5 for your subfolder.
-
Specify who you want to share 6 the subfolder with. By default, it's shared with the users who have access to the parent folder.
-
Click Create 7.
You can add a subfolder to a folder or convert a folder into a subfolder easily. Either drag and drop in the sidebar or use tags.
-
In the sidebar, find the folder you want to add as a subfolder.
-
Click and drag it over another folder or project in the sidebar.
-
Release the mouse.
The folder you dragged is added as a subfolder of the space you dragged it into. It's not copied.
-
In Table view, use the Folder info 1 icon to open the item view of the folder you want to add as a subfolder.
-
Under its title the folders tags are listed. Click + 2 to add a tag, or hover over and click x 3 to remove it.
-
When you tag the folder with another folder, it becomes a subfolder there. It also remains accessible in its original location.
