Wrike Bot Dependency Notification Delay

There is a delay between when dependent tasks are "completed" before the wrike bot notifies the next person that they can start their task. I've been told the current logic is that it sends notifications once per hour at the :45 mark, but that the task would need to be marked completed 10-15 minutes before then to register... meaning it can take over an hour to notify the next user that they can start their tasks. With our tight deadlines I'd love to see this get within 5-10 minutes. We have strings of 5-7 tasks that all have to take place in the same day... the hour delay between each task makes this difficult to utilize.

As a brand new Wrike user, I'm extremely disappointed in how this functionality works.  Having to wait an unknown amount of time (between minutes and never) to receive notifications pretty much renders this functionality useless for us.  We're reverting to manual notifications as my frustration grows.  It seems that the platform is extremely unstable in the short amount of time we have been using Wrike.

It would be great to have a system setting to enable more frequent notifications.

In the spirit of user adoption and visibility, I'm trying to utilize both the Wrike Inbox and dashboards, both of which come with some limitations.  For the notifications, items that are @mention seem to come almost instantaneously, while the notice that all predecessor takes are completed is delayed for quite some time.  Reading the OP above, it seems like something ready to go at 50 minutes past the hour would not get notified for nearly 55 minutes.  I'm playing the "we're new in Wrike card" as much as possible and thus have most groups additionally @mentioning someone to ensure tasks and projects keep moving.

We, too, are wondering if there is any update on this situation. We run on very tight deadlines, and it would be great to be able to choose the cadence of the notifications.

Lisa - curious if there have been any changes to the Wrike Bot notifications on dependency tasks?

Today, we noticed that the Wrike Bot failed to notify the assigned user in a task that had preceded a task that was marked complete. Being the two tasks were tied together with dependencies, it should have notified the user. It has been 2 hours since the previous task was marked complete, I would think that Wrike Bot would have triggered a notification at this point.

I set up a test to ensure Wrike Bot was working as it should. I created a series of dependencies and marked one complete. 36 minutes later, Wrike Bot did notify me that the previous task was complete and that I could begin working on my task.

Are you aware of anything within a series of dependencies that could potentially trigger Wrike Bot to NOT notify the user when the previous task is marked complete?  In this case, I noticed that the user left a comment on the task within minutes of the previous task being marked complete.  Could this have interrupted the Wrike Bot from working as it should?

Hi Rob Gorczyca, thank you for flagging this and I apologize for the inconvenience!

I'm not sure why this happened (or not happened in this case), so I'm going to ask my colleagues to look into this ASAP 👍

Hi Rob Gorczyca,

Thank you for your question!

In order for the notification to be sent when a task assigned to you is in a dependency chain and its immediate predecessors are completed, all of the following must be true:

  1. The dependency between the tasks is finish-to-start.
  2. The next task has “active” or “deferred” status.
  3. You have not been @mentioned on the task within an hour of when the predecessors are completed.

As these are optional notifications, you should also double-check that each user who wants to receive the notification has it enabled in the "Product reminders" section of their Email preferences.

These notifications are only sent out once per hour, at 45 minutes past the top of the hour, and only if all the conditions are met at least 10 minutes before the notification time. Since the notification is an @mention, the receiver should get an Inbox Notification, and an Email Notification 6 minutes later if they have them enabled.

I hope this helps explain your particular situation. Please let us know if you have questions 😊

Thanks Aaron K.! This is helpful.  While the assigned user of the task was not @ mentioned, they (assigned user) did leave a comment on the task 15 minutes after the previous task had been marked complete. Would this interaction by the assigned user cause Wrike Bot to not send a notification?

The user did confirm that their product reminders are enabled and I did confirm that the dependencies were set up accurately.

Thanks again!

Hi Rob Gorczyca,

Just adding a comment on the task should not have prevented the notification from being sent out if all of the conditions I previously mentioned were met.

We'll reach out to you directly to help troubleshoot the issue in your particular case.

Thanks for your question and have a productive day! 😄

Hi Aaron,

Just wanted to ask is there an update the possibility of notifying the person directly right after the dependency is completed? I understand that the mention can be instant, why can't this be instant as well? It is very inconvenient to wait 45 mins to an hour when this should be instant. Even if it doesn't send it out an email notification but at least have it show up in Wrike's inbox that so and so completed the task and you can now proceed to start? Look forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks,
