Hey Finn :) In terms of selecting multiple tasks/subtasks, you can do that from the List View. Just hover over a task/subtask and then check the box that appears to the left of the task name. Check the box next to all of the tasks you would like to select. Depending on how many tasks you have, it may be easier to click "Select all" (after you check the box next to one task) and then uncheck the box next to the tasks you don't want to include.

Once you select some tasks you'll see an option to move the tasks to a different Folder. This moves the subtasks for you, and you'll be able to add them to a Dashboard, but they will still technically be subtasks on the original task. A better option may be to export all tasks subtasks to excel and then reimport just the subtasks. You won't be able to keep comments if you do this though (I'm not sure if you need comments). Let me know if either of those options may work for you or if you have questions.

It would be simplier if one could move a task just by drag and drop. Is there any help for this?

Hi Mikael! It's possible to move a task (and multiple tasks) using drag and drop, here's how:

Is this what you were looking for? Happy to answer any other questions!

I need to move subtasks from one task to another not to another folder or project. Is this possible? Thanks!

Rachel, thank you for commenting here! Moving tasks/subtasks in bulk is available for Folders/Projects, but not for subtasks (since this is a different type of location). I'm interested in learning about the use case for this though. Do you often need to move multiple subtasks to a different parent task?

Hi, I need to move subtasks from one task to another not to another folder or project. do you have some advice?

I need it in few cases:

1. when subtask not it the best task I need to change location (ether older task has a important subtask/ multiple tasks that needs to be combined...)

2. when have semi duplicate subtasks in different tasks- I sometimes as middle stage of organizing I can just move things together and later deal with it..

That's all I have in mind at the moment :)

Thanks

Hi Clima, yes, I can help you move the subtask from one task to another. There's step by step instructions on how to do this on our Subtask page. Each subtask does have to be moved manually (there's no bulk editing option in this case).

Those use cases make a lot of sense for needing to move individual subtasks, thank you for sharing.

It would be great if there was an easy way to select multiple tasks in the left-hand navigation panel by shift-clicking or option-clicking, then be able to drag them all at once into a new folder or location.

Hi Tamiko, you can move multiple tasks from a Folder/Project by clicking the checkbox beside them and using the options on the righthand side panel select move/add to a new Folder/Project.

See below GIF and let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Stephen, however I was referring to the far-left column (in dark blue) where all the folders and directories are. I'm just thinking it would be nice if there was a way to select and move multiple items in that column at once by drag and drop.

I also need this functionality. We use tasksas projects and subtasks within if there are multiple deliverables. For some projects we have 30 deliverables, so if I need to move them into a new task from another, I have to do one by one. Needless to say it's tedious. Drag and drop of multiple selected subtasks into a new task would save a lot of time.

Hi, I need to have the functionality to move multiple projects to another folder within Wrike. How do you do this? Moving them one-by-one is incredibly time consuming. Folders/projects in Wrike should have the functionality as they do in Mac Finder or Windows Explorer.

Hi Bernadette, you can use Tagging for this to speed things up. Simple add the new Folder tag to any Project and remove the current Folder tag. We try to avoid the idea of 'moving' too much instead tagging allows items to live in multiple places so people across departments can add items relevant to them without moving it from one place to another.

Let me know your thoughts 👍

Thanks, Stephen. Tagging still has to be done one project at a time. I need an option that allows me to do mutliples or batch. While I understand "the idea of moving too much," I don't believe its a call Wrike should be making....this should be a customer driven solution. And as a customer, I need the option to either tag multiple projects or move mutliple projects at once, just like the option for tasks.

I have this as a similar question. So all of our projects once completed, we have an automation that moves them to our respective z/Archive folder after 3 days of being complete. Now going into the new year, I'd like to select all of the Projects inside of the z/Archive and put them into a 2022 folder within the z/Archive folder. I've tried hovering over the project in a list view and it doesn't give me the option to select multiple Projects. Is this something I could build an automation for to speed things up or is it a manual drag-and-drop process?

Agree, I can't find a way to Select multiple tasks like the instructions shown from 2017. Even when I highlight multiple items, it always unselects it and I find myself having to manually drag-n-drop one at a time

Hey folks, it's currently not possible to mass-select projects, but it is possible to do so with tasks. Wayne Lin I can see our Support specialist has reached out to you to help you with mass selecting tasks 👍

I have a Task with hundreds of Subtasks from the past 2+ years that continues to grow daily.  My goal is to have Folders inside the Task for the two previous years and move the Subtasks for the given year into the appropriate Folder.  I've created the two Folders and, using the instruction above, "moved" the appropriate Subtasks.  However, I now have two Folders populated with the 2021 and 2022 Subtasks...  but they also still appear in the long scrolling list beneath the main Task.  It seems to have been a "Copy" instead of a "Move."  What am I missing here?  Thanks!

Hi Dan Delosky, welcome to the Community! Since subtasks are attached to their parent tasks when adding a subtask to a folder/project, the subtask won't be copied or duplicated but it will live in both the parent item of its parent task and also in the new project/folder you have added it to.

In case you wish to move only the subtask to a different project/folder, it will be necessary to first detach it from its parent task. After having done so, the subtask will be converted into a regular task and you will be able to move it to the location of your preference.

I hope this information helps! If you have any additional questions, please let us know!

Juan I was able to move multiple items in the old table view by selecting them and then grabbing the 'handles' on the far left of the items and then dragging them to where I wanted them. The new table view doesn't seem to have this feature. Is there something I'm missing?

Hi Stephen Barnecut, thank you for sharing this concern. Currently, it is not possible to mass-move items using drag-and-drop in the New Table View. However, you can achieve this by selecting the relevant tasks/projects/folders and then choosing the 'Location' option to either move or add your items to a different location.

I have passed your feedback to our Product Team and we will keep you updates on any changes 👍

Thank you!
