copy multiple tasks
Hi,
I want to copy multiple selected tasks.
I can only duplicate one at a time, and then move it.
Is there a better way?

Hi Joe! There's no way to mass duplicate tasks, Jörn was looking for that functionality too though. If you want to +1 his request that will let our team know that you're interested in that functionality as well.
As a workaround, something that might help if you're doing this for a lot of tasks is to:
Hi all,
I have a workaround for this since it seems they aren't going to add this obviously necessary and SUPER BASIC feature.
Create Project "TASKS TEMPLATE"
Duplicate Project "TASKS TEMPLATE" and rename it "TASKS TEMPLATE 2"
Select all Tasks in TASKS TEMPLATE 2
A menu should come up on the right (or it may require a right-click after multiple task selection). Anyhow, see screenshot for this one.
Choose MOVE TO and then choose the Project you want these tasks moved to.
Delete TASKS TEMPLATE 2 (and keep original TASKS TEMPLATE for future use)
Thanks Kelly! Your procedure worked for me. I also agreed that copying/pasting multiple tasks the Gantt chart interface is a basic function for scheduling, especially if you have multiple spins of the same activities.
Wrike associates, Please consider this another +1 to add this functionality.
It is ridiculous that this is still not a feature. This seems basic to me.
I also found a way it can be done. You can export an excel file of the folder you are working in, delete out the items you dont want to duplicate, and import the file back in. For me, it imported into the top level, so I then grabbed all the new tasks and dragged them into the task I wanted.
Be careful with this method. I dont know exactly what it does if you have tasks connected to other folders/tasks. It felt sketchy when I did it, but it accomplished what I wanted and only took a couple minutes.
Hi Jeremiah Corson, thank you for letting us know your feedback and also for sharing the workaround that you're using! 🙂

This is crazy that this still isn't a thing.....copy and pasting items should be a very basic ask. Seems to be a common theme for many procedures in Wrike. All other PM platforms I've used have this.

How many up votes does this need before it becomes a feature? This is a redundant process that should be part of any database.
Hi Brian Macinnes, welcome back to the Community.
Please allow me to share a little detail on how we process Product Feedback. We receive many great ideas on Community, and we pass on all feedback to our Product team. If you'd like to find out more, this article explains what happens after we receive Product feedback.
We check with our team and assign a status after a thread receives more than 60 upvotes according to our Product Feedback Guidelines & Statuses. This suggestion at the moment needs more support. In the meantime, if there are any updates in relation to this suggestion, we'll be sure to update you here. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Hello,
Is there any further update on this thread? Its a feature in all PM/work management tools apart from Wrike and shouldn't need exporting and importing, should be highlight tasks and copy without dependencies, I've wasted so much time trying to replicate tasks or accidently deleteing a task which if you're not in gannt mode means that it and any subtasks are just gone. (Please correct me if I'm wrong as first time using Wrike again in a few years).
It's the only thing blocking a great tool for me as I want to roll it out as a global PM tool but these need to be in place for non PM's to be easily useable.
Thank you for supporting this suggestion David Parson! Can you please share a little more context on duplicating or accidentally deleting tasks? Could you explain what kind of solution exactly would be helpful for your use case?

So if I get it right, I need to grab a bunch of Friends and Colleagues to upvote a feature -that every other system has!-, in order to make it some of your Devs to look if they are feeling in the mood to take a look at it?
I have seen your team spent a lot of time upgrading the color scheme and look of the tool, it is pretty much "instagramable" now. But helping with productivity, nah, this here is a tool to look good, not to get things done.
Is possible that having a longer task, with details inside, that happen to be needed 7-10 times in a project does not occur so often in the modern project management. It's probably only for old school...
Every week I hate the guy who pushed this tool in our company a bit more. The good thing is, I know where he sits when his on office :-)
Hi Pablo Leslabay, welcome to the forums! Could you please explain your use case in a more detail? Because there are ways in Wrike to duplicate/reuse work items, like using Blueprints or Custom Item types. I'll be happy to discuss these options in more detail.

We are trying Blueprints for even more complex repetitive tasks, we have some of them. But its kind of an overkill for what I wanted to achieve.
I will explore "Custom Item types" as I am not aware of how they work.
Please let me know if you have any questions about them 🙂

Looking for this Copy/Paster Duplicate feature as well. Up Voted
Me too, just up voted.
Any update on this feature. I upvoted as well. Looks like we're at 86. Has there been a status assigned to this thread/suggestion?
Hi Jessica Kim! It's interesting, I can see 18 votes for this suggestion!
At the moment, we don't have any updates here, but regardless of the votes, this feedback has been passed on to our Product team.

Hi Lisa,
It looks like there are multiple threads requesting this functionality. When combined does this not have enough upvotes to be prioritized on the product roadmap?

I second (or fifty-third more like!) this basic requirement - duplicating more than one task at a time is basic feature of all other PM systems I have used and I am very surprised that it't not present in Wrike.
Hi Jessica Kim, thank you for sharing the other suggestions in this thread, and thank you Phil Taylor for seconding this idea! I'm afraid that at the moment we don't have updates about this feature, however, we will keep you informed if any improvements are implemented. Please, rest assured that all your feedback is being passed to our Product Team, and don't hesitate to continue commenting on this post 🙏
Hi all! If you make a bunch of blank rows, you can copy and paste multiple tasks in! It's super tedious as the number of 'new task' rows need to be an exact amount you're copying, but it works.
For example, I 'add a subitem' like 5 times and then can drag on the 5 rows already filled out and ctrl + c to copy. Then I click on the top 'New Item' and ctrl + v and then all 5 are copied.
im dumbfounded this isn't an option, especially since I was sold on this product that the founder liked MS Project but wanted to add more features and more useful tools, how can yall miss such an important basic feature? ClickUp doesn't have undo (ctrl-z) and wrike apparently doesn't let you easily duplicate tasks.....
Thank you so much for sharing a workaround with us, Lizz Greable! 🤝
I understand the sentiment, Nico Wildeboer. While we pass on all great ideas from the community to the team, the team prioritizes making changes based on their feasibility.
Currently, this is not included in the short-term roadmap, but it has the potential to be part of our future updates. We will definitely share if anything changes here. Thank you! 😊
