Approvals as Assigned Tasks
It would be SO helpful to us if approvals acted as regular tasks.
We primarily use proofing and approvals in our creative workflows. When we set up our workspace, we didn't have this feature, so we set up our content template in such a way that each step of the workflow was a separate task, like this:
After using Wrike for almost two years and really getting a feel for what works best for us, I would like to move away from this type of set up. To me, the less tasks in the workspace, the better.
So in the example above, I would want to condense this blog post to one to two tasks at most. The individual task would move through a custom workflow and the proofing and approvals would be contained within one task.
The issue everyone has is the fact that if they are assigned to proof and approve something, it doesn't show up in their task list. I know that you can set up dashboard widgets to track files that require your attention, but that doesn't really give us the work visibility we're looking for.
Hi Anna. Can this be done through the new approvals workflow that is currently in Wrike Labs?

Not sure if you've tried that or if you're looking for something different. Just wanted to pass this along in case you haven't seen this yet!
I have a similar use case to Anna above. When I assign a task approval with a deadline my users want to see it in their to do list alongside their other deadlines. Is there a way to enable that view? Many of our approvals are getting lost because users don't expect to have to go looking somewhere else for them.
I know the dashboard is a work around but we use collaborator licenses for most of our stakeholders who do the reviews so that's not an option for them.
Hi everyone, apologies for the delay in response here.
The Product team are interested in this suggestion, but due to other priorities, there are no plans to add this idea to the short-term roadmap. I'll be sure to keep you posted on any new information in relation to this.
If you need anything else, feel free to reach out at any time.
Hugh,
Any updates on having the approvals within a task appear in the users' To Do List? We are also in need of this functionality.
Thanks!
Hi Brad Powers, thanks for getting in touch!
There are no plans for this at the moment, but if that changes, we'll be sure to let you know here. Thanks for sharing your feedback 👍

We are building out our system currently and this is the exact roadblock we are hitting right now. Has anyone found a solution? I don't want to have tasks just for tasks sake, but I want approvals to show up as a to-do...
Hi Lauren Grunow, welcome to the Community! Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, I've passed it on to our Product Team 👍 At the moment, approvals live inside other items (tasks or projects), but we will keep you informed if there are any changes.
May I ask if you and your team have tried using the "My pending reviews" widget template in Dashboards to keep track of approvals?
Also, I'd like to mention that you can check our New to Community forum to discover all the resources you can find in our Community 🙂
Just wanted to circle back on this, because I'm running into the same issues with loving the IDEA of using approvals, but, in practical use, they just cause headaches. It's a bit of an ask to request that people set up dashboards to view approvals when they don't have to do so in other spaces. If literally all of their work is in "my to-do", then I'm disrupting everyone's process to ask that they instead use a dashboard.
It's really confusing to me that people have been requesting this for years and it's still had no movement on implementation.
Hi Megan Kappes, thank you for chiming in and for adding your support to this suggestion. I've passed your comment on to our relevant team 👍
