Create new (client) folder using request form

When a sale has been confirmed, we want the salesperson to be able to submit a form to:

1. automatically create a new client folder (the folder name is specified in the form, and it's a subfolder of a parent folder named "Clients") and

2. duplicate an onboarding project from a blueprint, and

3. place the new project in the new client folder

4. with the client's name as the prefix to every task in the project

I have been able to work out every part of this form EXCEPT the first step - "create a new client folder ..."

is this possible?

Many thanks,

Gina

Hello Gina, thanks for reaching out 🙂

Right now, when creating a new Request Form, you can create new tasks/projects or duplicate/use blueprint tasks/projects. So the client folders should be pre-created in your case, and then you follow steps 2-4. I think that creating one folder or space for all clients and then putting different clients there as projects might help here. Please let me know what you think!

It would be great if we could create a new folder from the request form! I am doing an onboarding project and I want to be able to create a folder that has only the projects within it that I select.  For example, my blueprint is a folder with five projects, a, b, c, d, and e in it.  When I fill out the request, I would like a folder to be made with the subprojects b, d, and e that I select within the request form.  Is this possible?

Hey Isabella Schrader, one possible workaround for this would be to use Conditional Parent Folders in your request forms. This way, you could assign submissions to go to different folders depending on the answers.

I would recommend checking out this Product Feedback post about sorting for request forms and adding your voices there, the post has nearly 60 upvotes which means that the Product team will be providing a status there soon.

If you have any other questions, be sure to let me know.

I agree- we have a few request forms that would work much better if, when submitted, they created a folder instead of a project. They pull a folder blueprint but it converts it to a project when pulled via form and then we have to manually convert it back to folder. Until it's converted back, it shows with all our other projects in reports and dashboards.

Creating folders trough Requests would be very helpful for us as well. We are trying to minimize the number of subprojects, because they really overcrowd the workload charts. We could switch to tasks/subtasks, but then we cannot make custom views for only that part of the project.
