Auto-Assign Tasks Based on User Role in the Project Team
A request that has come in recently from my team is to automatically assign specific tasks within a project based on the type of task and user role associate.
Example:
For a project, we're adding all people who have some level of ownership in that project as a Project Owner, this is our "Project Team". It typically consists of the Marketing Strategist, Project Manager, Writer and Graphic Designer.
Within that project there are tasks for Copy, Layout, Project Closeout, etc.
The request is that as soon as a designer is added as a project owner, they would also be assigned the Layout task, the Writer would be assigned the Copy task, the Project Manager would be assigned the closeout task, etc.
The user roles would be set within User settings and in our blueprints we could define which types of tasks would be assigned to which types of roles. This way it's done in one step rather than having to manually assign the tasks as well as the project.
I would love to get thoughts on this.
OMG would love this, would save us so much time.
This would be so useful - we have a lot of projects where it could be one of a number of people who do the task. We don't want the tasks within templates or blueprints to be assigned to a specific person, but can't leave the task unassigned
Thanks for your feedback here guys!
@Kelly, great suggestion, thank you 😃
I'll refer Community members here where I can, and let's see how popular it gets 👍

Agreed, this would be a great add!
This would be amazing, especially when teams get quite large and different folks are assigned onto different projects, but there's many tasks for the same role.
This would be incredibly helpful. For our production business we have a basic team that has well over 13 members each with their specific role. If we were able to create a workflow that would automatically assign the appropriate tasks to each team member once the request came in, we would save SUBSTANTIAL amounts of time from having to go in a assign exery single task individually and would alleviate potential errors in doing so. Would be amazing.
Yes please, this would be a game changer for our team!
Yes please!
This is an absolute need! I just purchased the system with the understanding it had this functionality, but it seems much more manual than expected.
For our team, some launch blueprints could have 100+ task, so manually assigning a user to the role type becomes a project in itself for organizations like ours who may have over 600 launches this year. Then, if that user hits a capacity issue or need to go onto another project, to be to reassign that job role to another user and autofill any non completed task is a much needed feature.
I'm new to Wrike and have been reading through various community posts for best practices as I begin setting up projects. Was this feature request implemented or is it still with the Product Team?
Hi Joe Ketchum! This is not currently possible, but there are other possibilities with Wrike's automation. Could you share a bit more detail on your use case so we can see what we can suggest? 🙂

Hi Lisa, I don't need any additional assistance. I decided to create Blueprints and assign roles as projects are initiated. Thanks!
Great, thanks for letting me know Joe Ketchum 🙂

An additional requirement for our organization is to only assign to associates with capacity during the completion window (start - due dates).
Example: Assign a user with > Job role - Web Designer, Region - EMEA, with Capacity (hours available) in week 3 of August
Thanks for sharing, Milissa! I have passed this on to the product team. 😊

so exciting Basudha Sakshyarika, this feature or lack there of was almost the reason we didn't select Wrike as a platform. This would be one of the largest operational efficiency gains my team could get for our project managers
Thanks for letting us know, Nick. 😊 While there's no plan or ETA for this suggestion at the moment, we will keep you in the loop with any new information. Thank you! 🤝
