Adding new tasks - risk of accidentally pulling in an existing one
AnsweredThis is mostly operator error, but a few times now we have accidentally accepted one of the (rather random and spurious) suggestions that Wrike comes up with that then pulls in an existing task rather than creating a new one.
This would not be too bad, if you could then just delete it from your project and start again - but deleting also removes it from the project it was originally in - and it is quite difficult to find out whose plan you have messed up. I am also not sure if pulling it in duplicates it, or removes it from its original location anyway?
Can anything be done to make it more difficult to make the mistake in the first place? (other than me being more careful!)
Hi Sue!
It sounds like you might be able to "untag" the task from the folder or project. This should remove the task from your project without deleting it outright.

If the task you're pulling in from another project is hidden from you (i.e. private), then you may not see two tags on the task. That means that when you remove your project tag, you may just see a rogue task floating around in your view. In this case, you should reach out to the owner of the other project and have them unshare the task with you. (Not sure this happens all that often, but it happened to me once.)
Hope I'm understanding your question properly / this is useful.
Happy Wriking -
I've ran into this same exact situation! Thank you for your response Evan! That is great advice!!!
Hi Sue,
I have run into this situation and have found a solution that is in line with what Evan suggested but uses the "Detach" function. When typing the new task name, if you're not careful, whatever suggested task from the dropdown is highlighted by the mouse cursor will get added when you hit "enter", regardless of what you had typed in for the task name. Since the task is now "shared" or "tagged" in multiple places, deleting it would remove it from both locations. I have found that if you right-click the task and choose "Detach" then it will remove it from your current task and keep it attached to the original task(s).

Hope this helps and makes sense.
It does Ron - thank you so much, and belated thanks to Evan also. I have now grasped what's going on, and am thus able to avoid it (mostly) and unpick it when not!
Hi, thanks for your help, Ron, I was getting really frustrated with this...
Also though, it should be noted that the RC then detach - *that only works in list view*, in table view it seems to be impossible to get rid of the undesired task link.
