Wrap Text in Table View

Wrap Text in Table View

For many of us used to working in SmartSheet or MS Project, the Table View is our primary interface with Wrike since it allows for a one-page view of a Project or a Portfolio of projects. 🙃

Given that we work across many tasks and projects, we have created a "Current Status" and "Next Action" field which provides a one-line update on the task which feeds into the report which saves a lot of time for a manager who has to follow a whole bunch of tasks to make sure that the project is completed in time.

The problem with doing this currently in Table View is that you are not able to see the "Custom Status" or "Next Action" field without double clicking on them or hovering over them, and that makes it very difficult whilst mass editing.

The feature I am requesting for is already present in the Reports View - we just need to extend the same feature to the Table View.

I wish wrap text was an option across Wrike - We really need it in Timelog view, so Timelog comments aren't cut off!

Hi guys, this is a great request and the Product Team are aware of it. I've no dates or information right now but if and when I do, I'll be sure to post back here 👍

Not sure why this is available for Reports and not for Gantt or Table view :(

This is a much needed feature, and it falls into the category of attention to detail, that seems to be missing throughout the Table and Gantt Views.

Features that are common in Excel, when used for task management, should be in Wrike.  I struggle to get adoption with Wrike because of similar issues:

  • Freezing the number column by default
  • Freezing a custom column
  • Word wrapping fields - even better if the feature could be toggled on/off
  • Filtering based on the Title column (using Search is not a good alternative)
  • Filtering based on Importance (how is this even missing)
  • Inability to highlight multiple rows (i.e. multiselect) to bring attention to them
  • Inability to make bulk updates directly from the view
  • Inability to add the 'Followers' column to the view
  • Inability to add the 'Last Modified' column to the view
  • Inability to autosize column layout to minimum width to display content
  • Inability to reset the view layout to match the parent container

All these complaints are made because there is so much that Wrike gets corrrect.

Agreed :( we have had to switch to Smartsheet for our project planning and are now using Wrike solely for collaboration without any tracking features enabled, which is a shame...

Wrike Team - maybe this isnt top priority as Ive notice that the actual votes for this feature are split amongst 3 or more separate posts. Table View Wrap Text and Show full Custom Fields text in Task View both have another ~ 50 votes between them. Can you please do something here as its such a basic request it really shouldnt take much to fix it! Youve already implemented it in reports view, would be a simple extension of code one would imagine???

This is a simple ask but has huge benefits.  This is limiting the use and adoption of this tool internally as common task fields are being cutoff.

Also wanted to chime in on the usefulness of word wrap. I'm running into the need for it with tasks and subtasks in List View running one of my monitors in portrait mode.

Hi again, everyone!

It's now possible to choose the display density in Table View - go to the three-dot menu and choose "full" to be able to see more text:

I hope this helps!

Hi Gabe Schur! Does it help in your case that it's now possible to select the "full" display density to be able to see all text in the Tabe View as I mentioned above?

Hi Lisa, yeah it does help. I just wish it did not expand all the rows regardless of the amount of text.

Agree with Gabe that it shouldn't expand all the rows regardless of amount of text.  We need the feature like Excel has where it auto-expands the one row to accommodate the text.  Even in "Full View" it does not show all the text contained.  Here's some screenshots:

Standard View

Full View - all other rows are too big and All Text is still not showing in the red circled field:

Hello, any update on text Wrap (Meredith's post)?

Please speed up the process on this correction as full view is totally useless at its present form.

Thank you!

Text Wrap is working for me.  In Table view, there are three dots to the right of "Export". Click on the 3 dots.  "Display density" options come up.  Choose "Full" to get the text wrapping.  AWESOME - THANKS WRIKE!  I was able to drag the cell columns wider to get those that had the three dots as shown in screen shot above.

Hello Teszt Felhasználó, currently a maximum of four lines are supported in the "Full View" option.

The Product team is aware of this feedback and we will be updating the thread when we have news 🙋🏻‍♀️

Dear Cansu,

Any updates on correction on the full view (supporting more than 4 rows and not leaving space for empty rows)?

We are using table view as agenda and memo on the meeting and put it on the screen for everyone to follow the topics.

It is very inconvenient that we can not read the full texts but having a lot of unused space.

Thank you for your feedback in advance,

Domonkos Bakay
