[Status: Backburner ⏳] Inherited Custom Field Values

This maybe a request fairly specific to my company's user case and would likely only come after custom field calculations are released.

It would be beneficial to be able to specify that a task's, project's or subtask's custom field value could be inherited from it's parent location (tasks/project).

Specifically if some users are only shared into a task and not the parent folder/project then it might be beneficial to have the same values in custom fields (if these were used to inform the assignee regarding the task). However having to duplicate changes throughout all the tasks in a project (if a change occurs) would potentially be quite a substantial job.

I hope that made some degree of sense, thank you for taking the time to read this,

-George

And there's also this thread Cascade Custom Field "Value" from Folders/Projects to Sub Projects/Folders/Tasks (Tim Schoffelman, November 02, 2018 16:00) about custom fields that could cascade values to child tasks/sub-folders/projects with 184 upvotes and its status is (you guessed it) STATUS: BACKBURNER.

Is there an update or a rough release plan for this feature? We urgently need this functionality as well.

Suggestion: a new type of Wrike Automation rule "IF [Custom Field X = empty] THEN [copy value from parent]". Would that take care of managing which custom field values get inherited?

I'm so disappointed to see this request repeated all throughout the forum, and marked as "backburner". This is such a needed feature, as is so evidenced by the many requests for it. Having this feature would be a game changer for our team. As it is, we have multiple processes that we're having to develop workarounds for due to Wrike's lack in this area.

Hi Sean Gilbertson, I hear you, and I understand how important this feature is for some teams. There are no concrete plans for it at the moment, but that may change in the future. Thank you for keeping the conversation going. Really appreciate your input! 👍🏽
