You should still be able to do this in list view.  Both tasks have to be in the same folder that you are looking at, but it still works by clicking and holding the one task moving it and hovering the dragged task over the task you want to make it a subtask of and release the click.  I just tried it and it works.

Thanks Ryan, you are right, the function works, however not as it did previously! I was used to dragging the sub task (in List view) into the actual task (on right hand box) and dropping on the "subtask" title. This doesn't seem to work now, but if i drop on the main task in the left hand "list" it works. anyway I am now happy to have the function working 🙂
