Add people to a project outside of your organization....

The ability to tag a persons name without an email would be great.  Why would you do this?  The person is outside your organization, but you want to assign a person to the project that is responsible for getting it done.  This would be used as a reference point to keep things up to date without sending emails to the person tagged in the project.

How can you think to add the person to the project if doesn't have email?

Let the software to add a user, and leave the email field blank.  Currently you cannot add someone to Wrike without a valid email.  No email, then nothing gets set.  However, you would have a contact, with an avatar that you can tag to certain folders / projects.

So your point "This would be used as a reference point to keep things up to date without sending emails to the person tagged in the project" means that you only want to see the name of the person... uhm...

Have you try to add that person and say to her/him that turn off all the notifications?  I know this doesn't resolve your problem but I can understand why you need an email... you "have" to notificate something

Think of it as more of a Tag.  The user does not want nor need an email.  Their companies do not use Wrike, but they are the person in OUR project designated to get the task completed.  Asking a user "Hey, we use this software and really like it. It will send you emails from time to time, but can you just turn them off or ignore the message?" seems a little far fetched and, I personally would not ask a business partner to do this... its just not very professional.

A much more practical position would be to allow the email field to remain blank.  Create the assignee so the item can be tagged and communication could be handled only when needed.

yeah, I get it, we try that with our clients but they accepted the invitation (because he could follow up the progress of the project) and I gave them a training.  BUT   you can manage her/him notifications from "account management" by "login in as user" and turn off... :D

I completely understand  you :)

Hey,

I do share your need.
Right now, I created a custom Workflow status "External Execution in progress", but I have to write a comments to know who should be in charge, even externally. I do not want to manage a collaborator nor external uses for them.

I would love to be able to use your idea to virtually assign the task to a virtual identified assignee.

Hi! I also have this requirement - has anyone figured out a way yet?

Well for those in construction who are 60 years old I doubt if we are going to get them to open an email account. Not being able to add a contact or sub contractor w/ out an email address basically makes this negates our ability to use it.

Hi Niamh Gordon 👋

Thank you for reaching out. We don't have any new updates at the moment. However, have you considered using Public Links for your use case? You can learn more about them in this article. Additionally, a Collaborators license might be beneficial for you, as it allows your collaborators to:

  • Access tasks through the Table view, Board view, Gantt Chart, and Activity Stream.
  • Access "My to-do" and the Inbox tab.
  • See, comment on, and attach files to tasks, folders, and projects shared with you.
  • Change the status of a task.

Rest assured, your comment has been forwarded to the relevant Product Team for their visibility 👍 Thanks!
