Automatic Assignee on Tasks for people on Vacation/Leave

We use the "automatic assign" function for some of our workflows that go to specific users. As well as "automatic assign" in Request forms. If someone is on a leave and do not have access to Wrike then some of their tasks are in limbo until the person who assigns it realizes it. Since there is no notification to communicate the individual is not in the office (even if they put their vacation in their calendar).

It would be great to have a way to be able to temporarily assign another user to receive the tasks that a person on leave gets automatically assigned to.

@Bailey I'm so sorry about that 😌. Here's the post

The other request is different. This one is about contingency when someone is not in the office, changing assignees automatically if they are flagged in Wrike as OOO. I like this suggestion, it would be helpful for sure, as right now we have to manually account for vacations and have people monitor the Intake folder regularly. Small team, so it's manageable, but I can imagine it would be a logistical headache if I had a large team.

I have a small team, but working on a variety of projects, so it would be great to auto-assign to anyone covering a PTO so schedules don't get behind. Right now, my team is manually adding their coverage to their tasks.

Hi everyone, apologies for the delay in response here.

There are currently no plans to add this suggestion to the short-term roadmap. If anything changes, I'll be sure to let you know.

Completely agree with this functionality. We definitely need a temporary re-assignment feature to cover vacations.

This suggestion is nearly identical to these other 2. If you are upvoting one, you should upvote them all.

Hey Wrike - Is there a way to combine feature requests that are really similar?

Hi Mike Fank, thank you for bumping these threads. We don't have the technical ability to merge them, unfortunately, but really appreciate you posting those links!

I have received several questions from our team about the ability to automatically reassign their tasks while they are on vacation. As stated from others, it is not enough to know that the person is on vacation. We need to keep the work moving.

We can set up a personalized notification in Outlook letting others know who to contact in our absence. We are looking for something comparable in Wrike. Having the ability to temporarily re-assign tasks to the person filling in for the person who is out would allow us to keep the project moving. Thanks!

I came here looking for an option for this. We've just set up a new intake form on my team, and all of the requests get assigned to me. We want to ensure that, when I'm out, my leader is notified of the assignments. Obviously we can either set up automation to assign everything to both of us, or to tag her when a request comes through, but then she's bogged down with lots of unnecessary notifications.

I did a test submission of the form and put the requested due date as a day that I have marked as Vacation, and it simply automatically put the date as the day after, since I'll be back working that day.

It does not make that adjustment clear to the requestor or in the task itself -- or even to me, as I was the one assigned. It just unceremoniously switched the date. At worst, there should be a ping to designated managers of the form if something unexpected happens in between the submission and the task creation...

But really, it seems like there should be some automation option of "if assignee is not working on the due date, take xyz action," whether that be tagging the space admin, or a designated backup, or whatever the case may be.

Hi Megan Kappes, welcome to the Community! Thank you very much for sharing your detailed feedback, I can see how this improvement would be valuable for users and I've passed your comments on to our relevant Team.

I'd like to suggest an option that could be of help in your case. You could create an automation rule to reassign the task to the item's author if its status is not updated to, for example, "In progress" in X days:

It is also possible to reassign the item to each user of a group (if the group has up to 25 members):

I understand this is not exactly what you're looking for, I simply mention this option as hopefully it could make your work easier.

If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Thank you!
