How do you edit the fiscal year? I'm gonna love this feature!

A couple things i will mention right off the hop here.ย

  • We are missing the sort by Predecessors (Cascade) of the previous gantt chart.ย  this is what i used most often, as it allowed me to ensure that tasks on the same day, were still in the correct order of action.ย  Using start dates works in a lot of cases but when task are on the same date, they than sort by alphabetical order.ย
  • Everything got a little smaller.ย  This is ok, but I would love the option of being able to choose how big the rows are (like in excel), not just the columns that are the days/weeks.ย
  • The week ends do not show clearly.ย  I like the shaded area on the Gantt for showing weekends and holidays.
  • I would love the opportunity to be able to expand a project, on the project bar, rather than always needing to go over to list on the left.ย
  • Rather than showing Monday, Tuesday, etc. on the timeline, I would like to see the actual date, like when I zoom in all the way.ย
  • I love that i can now do the automatic calculation from the gantt chart. This is a good improvement.ย

Hello Wrike Team, thats excellent news! I am just missing "cascade sorting" or sort by predecessors. Is that possible? Thanks!

  • Performance boost โ€“ Faster loading, especially for large and complex projects

My project is only ~980 tasks - hard to detect performance gains

  • Grouping & filters โ€“ Organize your data more effectively

I'm not finding a good use case for grouping for my work, so can't comment on that.

Filters work nice and can do this on a custom filter so I can only show critical milestones if I combine this feature with the "Show only a single list of tasks" option.
I do wish there some some regular expression support so I could filter based on more than just one criteria. ย Would be good to have AND and OR support that we can write with a simpleย formula for the filter criteria.

  • Fiscal year support โ€“ Plan your timelines with more flexibility

This is a don't care for my use case - no comment

I love this.

Fully agree on the topic list of Kyle.

There is one thing in rollups: It does not show, if there is a conflict with underlaying tasks, if a task or project is collapsed. Would love to get an indication there as well.

Hello everyone!
First things first thank you for your feedback! This early feedback is really helpful for us!

Iโ€™ll try to provide answers to the questions has been asked below:

ย

  • Greying out weekends - We will add evaluate to the new version to make it simplier to distinguish between workdays and weekends. Latest this will be supported in autumn when we are going to improve the UX of the canvas as well!
  • Size of the table - At this point we are supporting compact mode which looks smaller soon we will support the default mode which will look exactly like your table view (It can be changed at the Density settings (Compact vs default) at the table view!
  • Expanding/ Collapsing the whole project - Can be now done at the subitems project setting. Similarly like in the Table view. Or was this specifically to expand on the canvas?
  • Sort by Predecessors - We plan to support this feature soon. Providing ability to sort based on the Predecessors columnย
  • Fiscal year - The start of the fiscal year can be setted at the Settings - Account Management - Settings - Start of fiscal year can be edited here

I like how the indentation between tasks/subtasks is much clear to see. I second what others have mentioned about sorting by predecessors.ย

I am also wondering if you'll add 'successors' as a data point that can be automatically displayed as a column? That would really help me spot dependency gaps.ย

Nice improvement!ย

Hello, I am really glad about this update happening, because 90% of the work of me and my employees takes place in the Gantt chart. What I was missing in the old Gantt on a daily basis:

  1. The possibility to create a new task directly in the table on a given date, starting from another task using โ€œadd aboveโ€ / โ€œadd below.โ€ It is super quick and efficient way of adding new tasks + setting start date in two clicks. It was possible, but only in Gantt manual order โ€“ we work constantly in Sort by Predecessors mode.

  2. The possibility to display a Custom Field in the Gantt view task description โ€“ as builders we must write the volume (mยฒ/mยณ) of individual works into the task name, so that we can see it afterwards in the Gantt. It would be very convenient to have option to show at least one custom field there (as alternative to assignees)

  3. At the moment left and right click on a task in new Gantt have the same effect โ€“ they open detail of a task. If a right click on a task could instead pop up a Card โ€“ similar to the Board view โ€“ which would be configurable, that would be great. Then it could also contain the option to switch the task into the completed state (without the need to open the table or the detail).

  4. The new Grouping is great! I can group tasks according to projects (location), and this is very useful. What I am missing, however, is that afterwards these tasks are ordered alphabetically by the given projects โ€“ I would much prefer to order them by time (start date / due date) - to form a cascade.

  5. A button for hiding/unhiding the side table is necessary. Its position would probably be better in the upper part, for example on the same level as the timeline. At present it often happened to me that I clicked it by mistake.

  6. I fully agree with what others wrote โ€“ Sort by Predecessors is a must, and clear week markings as well.

Thank you once again, I am totally excited about this update - it was my secret dream for last few years!

Have a nice day, Jaro

Hello Wrike team! I love that we're looking at continuous improvement of our most used tools, it's so helpful!

One piece of feedback I have about the Gantt chart and predecessors in general is that I can't connect entire projects to one another as dependencies. For strategic planning, this would be very helpful to plan and visualize.

With the old Gantt each project has a summary task, where the projects total time spent is summarized. The total effort estimated is not summarized but should. The new Gantt is missing the summary task and summarized information.

The same summarized information appears in the space overview on the old Gantt. Missing on the new.ย

I would like that functionality included.

One more small thing.ย  :)ย  As we all know, Gantt charts ideally can use as much of the screen as possible.ย  I would like to see this far left column shrunk.ย  Its much wider than required, in my opinion.ย

Sort by Predecessor: This is an absolute must, and business critical.

The Mini-Table on Left: We no longer have the ability to hide this table. It's visually distracting, and can't be "resized" all the way to be out of view. Bring back the "hide" option.

Public Links for Gantt Views: Excellent! The sooner the better! Please make it available to have these persist, instead of limited to a specific time span.

Adding Task in Gannt: Back in the day, users used to be able to create tasks directly in the Gantt view - without using the table. I think it involved holding Alt+Shift, maybe? This functionality was super useful, and should be brought back - it allowed for tasks to be created in any location on the Gantt, instead of having to create them at the bottom of the table and then move them around from there.ย

Weekends and Non-Working Days: These need to be colored differently in the timeline view of a Gannt chart. Currently this gives the impression that those days are available for tasks to be scheduled. Why this was ever removed baffles me.ย

I know it has been discussed to gray out weekends/etc so this may be picked up as well, but the new Gantt chart tasks don't "skip" weekends like the old one did. If a task is dragged onto a weekend or non-workday, the task snaps back to where it was before instead of just not letting you drag onto a non-workday beyond it. For me personally, the classic way of handling this was preferred.

I'm back with another comment! :)

The old gantt chart, I was able to click once on a task on the gantt, and see a "preview" of the task.ย  A double click would open the full task page.ย  In the new gantt chart, I am unable to do this.ย  I will miss this for sure!!

Hi,
ย
we urgently need the light gray row overlay that connects the table part of the Gantt chart to the timeline part. Until now, it was always quick and easy to see which time bar in the overview belongs to which row in the table by hovering over it. It would be great if this feature were implemented.
ย
We also lack the option to manually enter the start or end date into the date field by double-clicking. Thank you for your feedback!

The new Gantt chart does not include the option to show critical path.

Do you plan to remove this feature from the platform?

For us it is a critical feature, and removing it would force is to seek a different platform.

An improvement I would have expected is to have the ability to add milestones that are not fixed by their date but can be made dependent on previous tasks. We use that to filter on milestones (e.g. invoicing) but having only the ability to create milestones that are fixed in time makes that not so useful as that still then requires manually adapting the milestones when planning shifts. Hope this is still coming, most planning SW has this ability.

๐Ÿ‘ Spot On ๐Ÿ’ก Innovative Approach ๐Ÿ’ช Stellar Advice โœ… Solved ๐Ÿช„ Remove Kudos

Edo Oliemans -ย  If you're trying to set up a Milestone that's dependent on prior tasks, in order to filter to Milestones that apply to Invoicing, why don't you just create a Custom Data Field that allows you to indicate Invoicing (could be a checkbox, dropdown, etc), and filter based on that? My understanding of a core tenant of Milestones is that they're fixed points in time. For example, a deadline. As such, they don't move based on dependencies. If, however, you want them to move, they'd need to be a task. Setting these up as Tasks with an Invoicing CDF would allow you to have those move, but also allow you to get the filtering you need.

thanks Joseph Anderson for your suggestions. We have indeed setup CDF for these to easily filter. My point was mainly on the fact that milestones can only be fixed in time and not dependently moving with predecessors. We now indeed revert to 1 day tasks (with a CDF) but in a Gantt overview I would prefer to see them as milestones, as they are exactly that. I think having milestones only as fixed points in time is too limited. Probably best solution would be that you can toggle 'fixed or flexible' date in a milestone as a setting.ย

One remark regarding the planning: Iโ€™m concerned about making the New Gantt the default (even if switching back to the classic view is possible) before all user feedback and requested features are fully implemented. Perhaps the new view could be set as default only for new projects. Otherwise, we would need to explain to our employees that they have to switch back to the classic view for Snapshots & PDF exports, which could be confusing for users.

Most of the improvements that we need to be implemented before sunset of the classic viewโ€”such as density settings and the preview windowโ€”have already been mentioned by Kyle.

The new Gantt view with Roadmap + suggestions aligns perfectly with what I requested in my feature request: Gantt functionality like table view and more color options.

I would like to reiterate the second part of that request: we would like the ability to assign custom colors to Gantt bars for each task or project, for example based on a custom field. It should be easy to switch between โ€˜color by statusโ€™ and โ€˜color by custom field,โ€™ similar to how calendars can be displayed by status or calendar color. This would allow us to visualize tasks by department.

Weโ€™ve seen other tools offer Gantt coloring by status, priority, or folder. More color options than currently available for status would be appreciatedโ€”ideally with a color picker, which weโ€™ve seen in other platforms.

One thing I've noticed is that, when dragging a bar to change the dates, the new Gantt chart will not keep the duration the same. In the example below, I changed the Misc. Equipment start date to be 3 days sooner, starting on a Monday instead of a Friday. When I let go of the task, though, the due date was also changed- from the 19th to the 16th. This seems unintentional, but if there is something I am missing here please let me know.

Performance improvements are welcome. It still feel like the GANTT chart is missing conflict-management filtering options. We have projects with a lot of tasks leading up to a milestone, and finding conflicts is manageable with the red successor lines, but understanding the tasks that are on the critical path to that conflict is very difficult.ย

Being able to right click and "visualize critical path" to a milestone would save a ton of time. Something like MS Project's "Highlight Critical'.

RE: Fiscal year support - we've been waiting a long time for this and so happy to finally have it!

However, one major flaw is that it doesn't appear possible to set a gantt-view folder in a blueprint up to default to the new Gantt chart option and/or to set the fiscal year setting as a default for that view. These settings also don't transfer over when you copy views from another location.

This means every single PM in our org (and we have hundreds) will have to manually select these settings on every single project 1x1. Not ideal.

Is there a plan to allow the "new Gantt chart" and "fiscal year" options to be set as defaults in blueprints in the near future?ย

PS: Agree with others above that the sort by predecessors needs to be brought back in the New Gantt chart view.ย

๐Ÿ‘ Spot On ๐Ÿ’ก Innovative Approach ๐Ÿ’ช Stellar Advice โœ… Solved ๐Ÿช„ Remove Kudos

Feedback from my team:

The new Gantt brings helpful resizing and Fiscal Year display. However, several regressions reduce readability and control (manual sorting, grouping depth, visual guides, roll-ups, quick access to fields/filters). Concrete requests below.

Whatโ€™s working well

  • Flexible pane resizing: The splitter between table and calendar moves smoothly, so I can see all columns without horizontal scrolling โ€” big improvement.

  • Adjustable widths with task open: Table, calendar, and the task pane can all be resized while a task is open โ€” very useful.

  • Fiscal Year display: Appreciated.

  • โ€œExpand next levelโ€: Helpful. A matching โ€œCollapse next levelโ€ would complete the pair.

Where the new Gantt holds us back

  • Manual sorting removed: Replacing manual order with grouping is not equivalent. Manual (drag-and-drop) order is a core freedom for building views that show โ€œeverything important at a glanceโ€ without scrolling.

  • Missing vertical gridlines in the table: Without column separators, the table is harder to scan.

  • Row shading stops at the calendar: Rows are only shaded in the table, not across the Gantt bars, which makes aligning rows to bars noticeably harder.

  • Custom Fields quick access reduced: The right-edge โ€œCustom Fieldsโ€ button is gone; โ€œFieldsโ€ in the top menu requires extra scrolling/clicks. Previously, all fields were visible at once for quick toggling.

  • Filters feel heavier: More scrolling and back-and-forth clicking to get to common filter combinations.

  • No โ€œexpand allโ€ control: The one-click โ€œopen the entire scheduleโ€ button appears to be missing.

  • Lost roll-up for โ€œTime spentโ€ on Tasks: The sum of subtask Time Spent no longer rolls up to Tasks (seems to work only for (sub-)Projects). For Tasks I only see roll-ups for โ€œEffort Project Proposal.โ€

  • Redundant project/task icon before โ€œNameโ€: Adds clutter and reduces scan speed. A tooltip on hover would convey the same info more cleanly.

  • Grouping limits:

    • Group by Assignee seems to work only at the top level โ†’ not useful in real hierarchies.

    • Grouping in general appears limited to the top level โ†’ also not practical.

  • Double scroll bar: The extra scrollbar doesnโ€™t add value and increases visual noise.

Requests / proposals

  1. Bring back (and persist) Manual Order alongside grouping. Allow a manual, drag-and-drop order within groups and/or as a standalone mode, saved per view.

  2. Add a โ€œCollapse next levelโ€ to complement โ€œExpand next level,โ€ plus a one-click Expand All / Collapse All.

  3. Add a toggle for vertical gridlines in the table for faster column parsing.

  4. Extend row banding through the calendar so the shaded row continues behind the Gantt bars (improves alignment).

  5. Restore quick access to Custom Fields: either reinstate the right-side flyout or provide a compact, non-scrolling picker for rapid show/hide of columns.

  6. Streamline Filters: more compact layout, fewer clicks, better keyboard support, and the ability to save/reuse filter presets prominently.

  7. Enable โ€œTime Spentโ€ roll-ups for Tasks, not just (sub-)Projects; make it a field option that can be switched on per view.

  8. Make the project/task icon optional (view toggle) or move that info to hover only.

  9. Allow grouping at any hierarchy level (e.g., group by Assignee within each parent task/project).

  10. Unify or auto-hide the extra scrollbar to reduce clutter.

Conclusion

If I had to choose today, Iโ€™d stick with the old view because these regressions materially slow down planning and review. With the improvements above, the new Gantt could be a clear upgrade. Happy to clarify use cases if that helps prioritize the work.

๐Ÿ‘ Spot On ๐Ÿ’ก Innovative Approach ๐Ÿ’ช Stellar Advice โœ… Solved ๐Ÿช„ Remove Kudos

I agree with Sven regarding Manual sorting. We miss this in the new gantt. We need drag & drop items in our own priority in timeline and in the table on the side.ย I don't see how grouping would replace this, it is not the same. And grouping only works on the lowest folder in a structure of a project with multiple folders.

By rolling out new gantt so quickly to all customers, it can feel like we're unwittingly becoming guinea pigs. While I appreciate the intention behind the fast rollouts, itโ€™s critical that the valuable input shared here is fully considered before proceeding with a full implementation. Many users โ€” myself included โ€” have noted that in earlier on new features like the new table view.

A phased rollout with more testing and customer visibility โ€” especially before pushing to all users โ€” would help ensure features are refined and better aligned with real-world workflows. This would benefit both the user experience and Wrikeโ€™s long-term product success.
