⭐ Releases - Start Using Sections in New Dashboards to Better Organize Your Widgets!

Feature Updates

We’re thrilled to announce a new option to better organize your New Dashboards widgets: Sections! The functionality can be found in the Dashboards tool bar, at the top, and allows you to create sections to group all related widgets.
To acces it, click on the +Section button:

Select a name for your new section, and then hit Create:

To add a existing widgets to the relevant section, you only need to click on the three-dot menu of the widget, then select Copy to section and choose the desired option:

This option is especially helpful when several widgets are grouped under a single Dashboard. An additional benefit of using Sections is a better performance: by loading only the relevant widgets, the data is loaded faster in our platform 🚀

Pietro, no, it's not possible and we do not consider sections as the security/permissions feature. They simply help better organize big dashboards and make them easier to navigate.

Great feature!
Will it be possible to combine two Dashboards with a function like copy to Dashboard XY?

Thanks, David! We were thinking about implementing it, but it seems to be useful only for the initial consolidation of existing dashboards and that's why we decided not to go for it yet. We listen to the feedback, though, and we'll make it happen if we hear strong signal from customers.

Hi Vladimir Bugay, it would be great to be able to add a permalink, as a widget, to be able to open a specific section.
So we could have a first Section with summary data and go into detail in the internal sections.

I'd like to add my support to the ideas of David Mehner (combining two dashboards with a copy function) and Pietro Poli (adding a permalink as a widget that would open a more detailed view). I can see applications for both of these ideas in the ways we use dashboards in our company.

How many sections can I create in a single dashboard?  It seems to be limited to 7?

Tom, that's right. What would you need more than 7 sections for?

Thank you for confirming.  I have eight members on my team.  I was hoping to have a tab (section) for each under one title heading on a single dashboard.  No worries.  I'll just create separate dashboards.  Easy as that.  Thanks again.

Tom, you should look into parameterization functionality we released less than a week ago. It would work much better than multiple sections for your use case. Please check this announcement.
