[Status: Launched ๐] Custom Field HTML Link
I need a Custom Field type to be "Link" whereby a HTML link becomes clickable.
ย
Example Custom Fields:
Google Drive Folder
URL
etc
ย
Currently, one must use TEXT type field, and manually copy/paste the HTML link.
Welcome to the Community Sarah Klinge ๐
Thank you for reaching out, I understand your point for sure. For now, the update that we can share is that the team is researching this and is planning to work on this functionality closer to the end of the year. As soon as we have more info to share, we will let you know.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with ๐

Hi, adding to this thread.ย This feature is needed.ย Thanks
This has now stopped us from rolling wrike out. Seems that this very basic function does not have your priority given that it's been requested for the better part of 5 years. see ya.
Hey KYLE SCHUMANN, thanks for posting here and we're sorry to hear that.ย
As Lisa mentioned above, there are plans to research and work on this in the coming months, so more to come. Also, when it comes to Product feedback, there's a process for how we decide what gets worked on and you can read more about it in this Community post.
If you'd like, I'd be more than happy to have one of our team contact you to discuss this in more detail. We'd love to hear your feedback and we'd love to see if there is a way we can help you to achieve your goals in Wrike.ย
Let me know if you're happy for me to arrange this, or if there's anything else I can help with.ย

Hello Wrike Community Team,
Lisa commented that the Product Team was continuing to research this idea and the status of "investigating" was staying the same. The post says the clickable html will be delivered at the end of 2022. Is this on schedule?
Thank you,
Sarah
This would be VERY useful to our team, we use google maps custom dropped pins or what3words frequently, as many sites we work at do not have "proper" addresses (how do you input an address for "middle of an open field that was mud and cows last week but this week is a functioning roadway and LOG compound for a multi-hectare festival site" hahaha)
A custom field that allows clickable links opening to the webpage (or triggers opening the phone app) would be really fantastic!
Adding another vote to this, and please let us all know exactly where on the roadmap this currently sits as last update was >2 years ago...?
Thank you, folks! We will let you know as soon as we have an update here ๐

Please, please, please tell me this is being added ASAP. Not sure how this could have been overlooked for so long -- even an HTML field would be helpful! Anything to be put a clickable external link into.ย ๐ถ
Hi Mack McGill, welcome to the Community and thank you for bumping this thread. As Lisa mentioned above we'll be sure to let you know when we have an update from our product team๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
Another STRONG upvote for this feature!
Thanks, Laura Boylan. We appreciate you sharing your feedback here ๐ย

"For now, the update that we can share is that the team is researching this and is planning to work on this functionality closer to the end of the year."
So one would assume by now it is somewhere on a real-world planning - and maybe Laura Boylan or Elaine could share an update on this planning with us?
We are now in year 6 since the OP asked for this feature, with 180 upvotes. Just FYI Lisa
Hmm. Small survey:
Just saying...
Why would we use this field? (Why are you even asking this question)
And yes, all this can be put into the description as well, but every custom fields value can be written into the description text. And then it's not accessible for any form of overview, reporting, completeness check etc.
Get your act together, please.
Wim Janin - You tagged me as possibly being able to provide an update on plans, but please know that I am not a Wrike employee, just a Wrike user. I don't have any insight into Wrike's product planning.
A "link" custom field is a no-brainer.ย Amazing that it's still being debated after close to 6 years.ย Anyways, we are in the process of migrating a large set of projectsย from Jira Server to Wrike.ย This is critical to our upcoming deployment in the May '23 timeframe. We have too many use cases to list here - +1 and ditto on Wim Janin's post above.
Can Wrike please provide an update on clickable link function and where it sits in the development queue? This does not seem to be a priority given how far the dates of these posts go back, however it would be greatly appreciated if Wrike could provide a reasonable and realistic date so that I can relay this to our team. The late 2022 date that was mentioned by Wrike has clearly come and gone. Thank you.
Hi everyone, apologies for the late reply here, I needed to check with the team to be able to reply to you here.
Our team is currently researching this suggestion with plans to work on it later this year. The research is taking more time than anticipated previously because though this may seem simple, this change is related to many instances in Wrike. We continue sending your feedback to the team and once we have more information on links in custom fields, we will let you know here.ย

Fred Lunau we recently completed the transition the other way, from Wrike to Jira. Developers are very happy now, we have out-of-the-box sprint burndown charts, merge links to code repo's, integration with FreshDesk.
If your audience is non-technical, Wrike might do a good job.ย
For technies, I would advise otherwise.
Wim Janin Yes, bi-directional linking is feature which is really missing in Wrike. Jira is straight forward in the scrum process. We switched as well but still using Jira to Wrike sync, so our business people now what is happening in the. This connection is really valuable but costly.
Wim Janin - good to know your Wrike to Jira went well and is supporting well.ย
Ivan Matosyan we have a similar integration, for exactly the same purpose: show in an other tool what the status is of a set of Jira tickets, related to a project.
We have this between Notion and Jira. And this integration costs nothing :-Dย
Yesss, it is here! It is released in the Weekly Releases.

Hey Lisa, Aybรผke Novosad,
It's a great new feature!
One small thing though. Wrike doesn't translate e-mail entries correctly. Are you aware of this? For example dennis@wrike.com. Only the part after the @-sign 'wrike.com' will behave as a link and it points to wrike.com. It would be even better if Wrike translates e-mail entries to a mailto link.
Hi Dennis Pronk, welcome to the Community! This is a great suggestion, please feel free to create a new post about it in our Feedback section so our Product Development Team can look into it. Also, this way other users will be able to upvote it. Thank you very much for sharing this idea and looking forward to seeing more comments and posts from you in the future.
Thanks for the suggestion @...
I've posted in the feedback section and my post is waiting for approval.
Thanks a lot Dennis Pronk ๐ค
