[Status: Not planned] Editing Notification Types in the Inbox

I would love to be able to edit what kind of notifications come into the inbox.

Also, more specifically be able to be notified of dependencies being completed.

I agree it would be very helpful to have more flexibility in what notifications appear in the inbox.  For example, some of our users don't find the "Wrike Bot: assigned task to you" notifications useful and would like to unsubscribe from those notifications, or setup a filter in the inbox to filter those notifications out.  Could you add this functionality?

Hi everyone!

This seems to be a topic started in 2017 and gained 152 upvotes and 92 comments. What can we do that the Inbox enhancements find their way on the roadmap of your team? :)

Hi Lea Ariana Kroos, this is indeed a popular request and we know it would bring benefit to many users, however, it's unfortunately not possible for us to implement all of the suggestions that we get on Community and there is a need for us to prioritize based on votes and other factors including internal research and analytics. For more detail on how we work with Product feedback check out this Community post

On another note, I can see you're pretty new to Community, welcome! 🙂 If you haven't already, I'd recommend checking out our New To Community forum to learn how to get the best out of the resources we offer here. Let me know if there's anything else I can assist with 👍

Hi!

I've tried to read all comments but there are a lot of them. Someone mentioned it would be useful to have an Inbox notification within Wrike when a comment is added to a task we are following or assigned to, considering sometimes there are a lot of followers and cannot waste time to @ them all. I do get an inbox notification when someone @ me, but not when a comment is added to a task I either follow or am assigned to. How can I make sure I miss no comment/update without having to be @ ?
Thanks

Hi Genevieve Di Tiello,

you got it absolutely right, messages without @mention are not shown in the wrike inbox. You can get notified by email of this kind of activity, but not within wrike. It's odd, but there is a possibility within the mobile app not to miss any activity on tasks you're following. If you use the mobile app, you can get even notfied by push if someone commented or changed anything on your tasks. Sadly this important key-feature didn't make its way to the standard wrike application for years.

But I like to correct one detail of your statement: If you like to @mention all followers of a tasks, you don't neet to @metion everyone particularly, you just have to type @followers.

Hi Genevieve Di Tiello, welcome to the Community! Possibly, the best way to keep track of all the comments left in relevant tasks would be using the Stream view, where you can also filter the data you need to display.

As @Florian Kislich mentioned, you can use @followers to mention all the users who are following the task. Here you can find more information about @mentions. Thank you for highlighting this option, Florian!

Hi Juan,

unfortunately the stream view is not an adequate option like the activity function of the app. The app will automatically send me a push message of new activity on tasks I follow, and in the stream view I manually have to look for changes I don't already know. This can be very annoing especially if the most changes where done by myself.

Thank you very much for your reply, Florian Kislich. I've passed your feedback on to our Product Team and we'll keep you updated if there are any changes.

Another workaround could be the following: you could ask users to add comments to the task description and create an automation rule that would trigger a mention to all followers:

I understand this is not exactly what you are looking for and the current solution would be to ask users to mention @followers (or the relevant users) to ensure that they will receive a notification.

With the automation rule in place, the @mentions will be triggered even if the users forget to include them.

If you have any additional questions, please let me know 👍

I would like to see options available for controlling Wrike inbox notifications. My team has invested in Wrike as our tool to manage projects and would like to do in one place. I want to keep Wrike notification and correspondence from filling up my email inbox but there are certain notifications I am unable to receive in my Wrike inbox. An example of such is receiving notifications for tasks I follow. This is a set back in the expectations I had for using the platform. I hope this is something that can be addressed in the near future.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback with us Renee Bechler! Apologies for the late reply, I needed to check with our team to see if there are any changes here. At the moment, our team doesn't have this idea on their immediate plans due to other planned enhancements. We'll keep you posted if we have an update in the future.

I'm not sure how this has still yet to be solved since there has been major feedback and requests to get this fixed since 2017.

Hi Taylor Brandon, welcome to the forums 👋

I understand your sentiment about the fact that our team can't commit to releasing all of the suggestions here in the Product Feedback forum, but we do get quite a lot of them and our team strives to prioritize some of them. Here's the list of Community ideas that have been made Wrike features last year 👍

We don't currently have updates for Inbox notification editing, but I'll make sure to pass on your feedback. Please don't forget to upvote the main post at the top of the page in case you haven't yet, because votes help demonstrate the amount of interest for different ideas 🙂 And please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with!

Hello Lisa! I'm here to voice my agreement with the need for options to customize/control/filter Wrike inbox notifications. Like others have mentioned for the last 7 years, one of the main selling features of Wrike is the ability to manage all project tasks/communications in a single spot. However, without Wrike inbox control, we aren't able to achieve this. If our Wrike inbox is cluttered up with potentially hundreds of notifications about a new task being assigned to us when a new project is opened, etc., the notifications that actual matter (@mentions, comments, etc. for already in-flight projects) -- which we need to take action on -- inevitably get buried. Then we must rely on email notifications for actionable items that require our attention. Not to mention the time it takes to archive all the extraneous notifications. It's frustrating that with nearly 100 users complaining about this and requesting the same feature, the Wrike product team can't spend some time on this. I hope the team will reconsider. Thank you! :)

Yes, this remains still a major issue!

Adding my voice to this much-needed feature! As many others have said, I would love to see the ability for each user to be able to customize their Wrike Inbox notifications, specifically the "you've been assigned...." notifications.

USE CASE: I do the majority of the request intake for our Agile Marketing team and I utilize blueprints to quickly add subtasks to most requests. However, I can't always pre-assign team members to specific blueprint subtasks (i.e., multiple agile designers and copywriters on the team who can tackle just about any creative request), which means I have to assign those subtasks and that sends notifications to those assignees. Those notifications are a distraction to the team and clog up their inboxes. Especially if I'm setting up a task that the team won't start for several weeks, it can be confusing when you get a "you've been assigned" notification and instantly think, "Do I need to work on this now?" Our team norm is that whoever owns the first step of the request gets tagged in the comments so they know it's ready to start. I understand this might not be the norm for other teams using Wrike, but it's what we've found works best for us.

WORKAROUND: To avoid inundating my teammates with notifications that are useless to them, I go Blueprints (account Blueprints, we don't use Space blueprints), DUPLICATE the blueprint I need into a "sandbox" folder (located within Blueprints), assign all of the subtasks and leave the main task unassigned, then I "Create from blueprint" and set the location to our Requests folder, delete the "sandbox" blueprint since it's no longer needed, navigate to the Requests folder, expand the task I just created so I can see the subtasks, use the Mass Edit feature to move all of the subtasks into the actual request, then delete the now-empty task (that was just created from the blueprint; and the reason I leave it unassigned in the sandbox is so no one gets a "this task you were assigned has been deleted" notification). All of this extra work because I can't just assign the subtasks when the request comes in because I'm committed to limiting distractions for the team and want to ensure they don't miss important notifications (ex: a designer can easily get 50 notifications in day from collaborating with other creative team members, me, and other leaders). So to sum that up, I'm basically building subtasks in a dev environment and then launching into production.

As always, thanks for the time and consideration of how we Wrike!

Hi there! Here to add another plea for customizable inbox notifications. I recently got a new boss and this is something she's desperate for.
