[Status: Not planned] Editable Task Completion Date

 I have started a project about a year in and am trying to track the progress of the project so far. Unfortunately whenever I create a task and mark it complete, it states that the completion date is today even though it was completed months ago. I would like to see an editable completion date (at least for the Admin role) so that Planned and Actual completion dates can be compared and reported accurately, rather than having a huge number of tasks completed on the day the project is loaded on to Wrike.

Wrike should address this problem quickly!  The "Date Completed" field is especially annoying when onboarding, and when importing MS Project files.  Having the complete date always set to the "date marked completed" simply falsifies our process, and workarounds reduce Wrike to a manual process not much better than Excel.  I agree with Rob G. Irwin above, that this field should be called "Date Marked Completed" --but Duration should be calculated with an "Actual Completion Date" that is editable--otherwise Wrike isn't providing correct information without a manual workaround that seriously distorts the time it has actually taken to complete a task.  Why have a field whose lack of changeability renders it useless as a measure of our process?

I would like to check on an update on making the completed date field editable . I have been tasked with tracking overages of days for both tasks and subtasks. I tried a workaround for the issue of not allowing an edit to the completed date .I created a new custom field for complete date that is editable to get past the limitation of your current completed date. I added a calculated field  for actual days to complete the task/subtask. I then added another calculated field to determine the percentage over between what the expected  duration and actual duration was. The gap I have is I can't find a way to have the custom actual days field not take weekends into consideration when totaling days like the stock duration does . So using a custom field does not solve my problem unless you can tell me if a custom field can somehow not take weekends into consideration when calculating days using one stock date field and custom date field  . Let me know if am explaining clearly as I know I am even a bit confused when reading what I typed

I am closing out last year and found a few instances of hanging tasks and project.  Now I am stuck with 2023 dates.  As administrator I should be able to edit.  This and other suggestions I have researched have gone on for 3-4 years here and are not resolved.  I don't understand with all of the feedback, why the development team is not addressing.  The folks commenting are not casual users but the thought leaders.  We understand the risk and can mitigate by limiting access to administrators only.  Please provide the requested functionality.

We need this feature! Our team has been trying to update past reports and they're reading all wrong. We're uploading past years projects during the same type of market to utilize the reporting systems & graphs. Our department is considering a restructure and it would be super beneficial to be able to forecast precisely based on past data.

Adding to the thread. As transparency and accurate reporting are integral to project management reporting, the project end date should be editable so accurate reporting can be completed with the product. It seems we have at least 4 years of people using workaround instead of the product working as the users need it to work. The workaround is ok, but I'd like to hear from the Wrike team on if this change has been scoped for a near future sprint?

I second this motion along with everyone else, as if we have to use a workaround (which we currently do to accomplish accurate reporting), then we suddenly can't use the Gantt chart functionality. 

It's unfortunate it's an "either/or" situation where we have to choose between accurate reports with our own custom fields for dates or being able to use the Gantt Chart functionality. 

As a side note, this suggestion has 120 upvotes now, how many are required for it be added to the Product Team as an action item?

Hi everyone,

After searching for the right system to manage our company projects, we decided that Wrike offered the best cost benefit.

However, after using it for more than a year, we have concluded that issues such as the Completion Date problem, among others, were significant enough for us to cancel our subscription.

What bothered us the most is that Wrike's support consistently provided the same responses repeatedly. You can see @...'s comment above and all other Wrike "Community Team" personnel comments in this and other forum posts—they all seem to be following a script.

This request has received enough upvotes to warrant a review from Wrike, and it's been years since we first raised this concern. And there is still "no updates".

I'm disappointed and hope that Wrike can address these issues. If they do, we will consider returning to the system. Until then, we will likely use Trello, ClickUp, JIRA, or something else.

I believe it's important for Wrike users to understand the thoughts and experiences of other members, as they may also become frustrated with certain functionalities of the system.

We really need an editable completion date field that isn't a customized field workaround. I think the suggestion above for you to make the static/uneditable field be labeled "Marked complete" and add a new field for "Actual completion date" would address the needs that so many have shared here.
