Filter search for no due date

With so much of Wrike dependent on due date, there needs to be a way to identify tasks with no due date assigned.  Need a filter option added to identify tasks with no due date.

Same goes for projects. We've had projects slip because they don't show up in widgets where filtered by a date/time frame.

Definitely need a Has this Tag/Doesn't have this Tag option for Due Date.

Is there any word or feedback on this? I was hoping someone would chime in and say "there is a way" and show us something we didn't know 🙂

Hi guys, thanks for your idea here and input.

For now, I'm wondering if we could use another filter-able attribute to find these tasks. For me, I use statuses. I know that any task that has not been scheduled will either be 'New' or 'Backlogged' because I ensure that these are the only statuses in my workflow that don't need a date right now (granted this is my own best practice).

Your workflow may be different, but it's always good to have one status which you can move an item to that suggests it's not scheduled e.g. 'Not Started'.

Then, when I want to find all these items without dates. I can search and filter by these statuses and assignee too. I usually do this to see what tasks were created but I have not yet added to my workload by scheduling it (and maybe forgot about 🙃).

The original idea here is with our Product Team and I'll update you when there's any update. In the meantime, as Willie suggests, I think it's valuable to share how we all manage this right now. Share any ideas or current processes below 👍

Hi

I want to lend support fo this.  There are places where wrike seems to have the concept of Backlogged but other places that it doesn't.  Filters, widgets, reports ALL need to support the idea of has no start date and has no end date.

The lack of this is a serious problem for our team.  To me the dates should be at the core of the idea of backlogged or you could have the concept simply of "unscheduled".

Can we get an update on this?

Thanks

Wes

Hi everyone,

I came across a need for this today. Stephen's solution doesn't work for me, because I want to see tasks that have been changed from "New" to one of our several In Progress tasks (e.g. Processing, Ordered, Ready for Approval, etc.) but were not assigned a due date.

Fortunately, it seems that since Ben Swaby's original post in 2017 Wrike has changed their filters and it's possible to do this!

Here are your options, please feel free to test and let me know if there's any scenario in which they don't work:

1. Go to the List view and filter by Task Type: Backlogged. In addition, I also filtered by Status so as to only view tasks that are In Progress, not New.

OR

2. Create a report by tasks, filter by Task Type: Backlogged. Again, I also filtered by Status.

Hope that helps!

I also agree that it would be very helpful to have a filter for tasks that aren't scheduled.

This seems like a no-brainer. How can we find tasks that were created but never assigned a date? It's a black hole.

Hey everyone! Soraya Jung has shared how this can be done higher on this thread, here's a link to her comment: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115002382745/comments/360009652233

You can filter by Backlogged tasks in the List View or in Reports 🙂 Thank you for sharing the solution, Soraya! 🙌

I see filtering by backlogged tasks, not filtering by tasks without a date.

I am concerned with tasks that have been created but dates never assigned.

I agree with Jon that the post from Soraya does not solve the issue.  I am looking for a way to find tasks (regardless of status) that have not been scheduled.

Hey guys, thanks for reaching out! Backlogged tasks are tasks that don't have scheduled start and end dates.

I'm trying to create a dashboard widget that does this very thing.  When I filter on backlogged tasks, it's not finding any.

Hi Erik Nicholson

Thanks for reaching out! Could you double-check if you have tasks without scheduled start and end dates in "00 Intake" project?
Also, I wanted to mention that it's possible to create a custom widget with backlogged tasks right from the List view. Please give it a try:

  1. Open "00 Intake".
  2. Choose "tasks from subfolders" in the List View menu:
  3. Filter tasks by Type->Backlogged:
  4. Once the filter is applied, you will see only tasks without start/due dates. Next, please click on the menu button in the top left -> "Add to Dashboard":

Please let us known how it goes!

You're correct, I was looking in the wrong folder.  Thanks for the response.
