[Status: Investigating ๐ต๏ธโโ๏ธ - available in New Table View (Wrike Labs)] Custom sort order - Folders
Does anyone know a way to custom sort my folders? ย The default order is alphabetical, but if I have the following folders, they are not in the order of execution:
- Delivery
- Prototypes
- Production
- Quotations
The only way I can get around the automatic sorting is to use number prefixes, i.e.
- 1 Quotations
- 2 Prototypes
- 3 Production
- 4 Delivery
Thanks!
There seems to be a very clear focus on new "add-ons" - the new Wrike Analytics stuff is awesome but not if I can't get the rest of my team to really dive into the product which is what we have failed to do this past year.ย
Ignoring the fundamentals like this one - the other one that drives me nuts is the undercooked spaces, whereby I can't even choose on a space-by-space basis whether I want to show folders or subtasks nevermind being able to choose a view other than list.
Like you I had to upgrade to integrate and the marketing version to make it do what I wanted and Wrike is now the most expensive application in our productivity stack. When I'm paying that much money for a product that should be as mature as Wrike, I don't expect to have daily frustrations like the ones I've described in an area as simple as navigation. I've already indicated to my account manager that we won't be continuing, and I'm switching to another product which I think is a couple of upcoming releases away from out-doing Wrike on every level. It's a shame because my investment from both and time and monetary basis has been significant.
Hey guys Phil Sim and Jason Thayerย thanks guys! and can't resist jumping back in again...wonder how many of other users echo our sentiments but don't have the time to comment as well - or are too busy to spend time in here, haha.
Jason, you are right, the nocode stuff is lacking in a lot of functional stuff for Project Management like dashboards, reporting, etc. but they are moving quickly.ย I just paid for Coda 2.0 for one seat to continue to watch its progress.ย That team is very responsive and I've actually spoken in person many times with their product people.ย They are honestly building a modern app that I'm sure in a year, if not sooner, will bypass Wrike and some other slow movers - I mentioned Asana, and although flashier in appearance that Wrike - it is equally devoid of basic features and in danger of being eclipsed.
And Phil I won't ask you to reveal what you're moving to, but I'm sure I know it.ย I have been testing other stuff non-stop for about 6 months after buying my Wrike license, as I could not ultimately get my team on Wrike due to the various limitations that baffle me.ย You obviously have a technical background and I think your analyses are spot on.ย Again, makes me wonder what management at Wrike is counting on as these competitors are coming up hard and fast, clearly are build on more modern platforms, better UI's, cheaper, iterating at breakneck speed, and there are new ones all the time - you should check out fibery.io for a good example.ย And I agree Phil the time that goes into Wrike, in my case on workarounds, is a real killer.ย And I could probably name 5 tools I've used extensively that I am sure - as you state- within a year's time will have everything Wrike does, and more.ย And most all actually respond to user feedback, and build around that.
Great talking to you guys and cheers!
Cheers AL.ย I've already personally moved to the new tool - I wanted to see forms and dashboards - both of which were on their roadmap for November - before I switched but I think I'm going to pull the trigger anyway. I can do with the cashflow saving not renewing with Wrike will save me.
On that note, having a transparent and thoughtful roadmap/ feature request system is a big difference in itself. Wrike gives you no insight into what they are developing, what features, etc are being considered and hence it seems they drop stuff like Spaces, without it being . These two features have missed their roadmap date, but at least I know they're being worked on and edging towards roll-out (they;ve even provided screenshots to show the direction they are going). For example, Workflow automation is on their roadmap for December - and so I know that there some immediate needs I have there that I might hack up in Zapier, but larger ones I feel like I can hold off on.
Cheers for the link to fibery, I've been using a tool called Miro to do some of the project visualisation stuff that looks to be baked in on there.
ย
Phil Sim would it be possible for you to share what is the tools that you have moved to? We too have been haunted by the lack of ability to drag and drop project/folder sequence causing lots of problems when it comes to task visualization.
You can PM me alternatively or drop me at mail at tkchuah @ instanture . com
ย
Hey guys, TK Chuah most of the tools I've tested - Fibery, Coda, ClickUp, Hive, etc. all have that basic functionality.ย I am done with Wrike at this point, working on a nocode solution leaning towards Coda, although I have to bring in my dev team to help me as it does require configuration.ย But you can configure it to do practically anything you need, so well worth it.ย ย
Best of luck to both of you, enjoyed chatting and if you have any new insights, be glad to get them.ย Coda has not quite met my need, so I'm still << a bit >> in the market for something!
Hi all, thanks for your contributions and input here.ย
Weโre sorry to read that youโre disappointed that this idea isnโt currently planned. Weโd love to be able to implement all of the suggestions that our customers share with us, but we have to prioritize certain requests over others based on various factors and considerations at the time. Although this isnโt currently planned, we will continue to pass on all of your feedback and insights here to our Product Team and of course, we will let you know if anything changes.ย
If thereโs anything else we can help with please donโt hesitate to let us know ๐

Still waiting for this feature to get implemented...
Elaine could you at least tell us why the feature isn't planned? Is it a technical limitation that would need a major overhaul?
ย
Wrike appears to me like Evernote : great, functional app in its core with major resistance to change and no responsiveness from staff along with very slow iterations.
ย
In the same way Evernote is being taken over by Notion, Wrike is bound to have a same faith against the likes of monday.com, or Clickup if it doesn't change.
I hope this is not dead. ย It should be a fairly simple fix?
Hi everyone, thank you for all of your feedback here. It's been passed on to the Product team.
According to the team, a suggestion such as this one would be difficult to implement into the product. If anything changes, however, I'll be sure to update this thread with any other news.
If you have any other questions, be sure to let me know!
Having viewed the history in here and in other threads this doesn't seem to be moving forward, right?
ย
Definitely a missing link towards a positive buying decision!
ย
Any further positive insight and/or timeline on this?
Thanks!
I spent some time today testing Wrike.ย
This absolutely basic feature is the reason I will not be choosing Wrike.ย
Cheers.
Thanks for your feedback, Pedro Alves, I'm passing it on to the team. I'm sorry to hear it didn't work out for you! Just in case it helps, we've recently announced the New Wrike Experience here - please check it out. Itย brings a fresh look to the workspace, making it easier to navigate across Wrike and quickly access your work.ย

Another up-vote for this basic feature please. I'm already using numerical values to force a sorting on some of our folder structure but I shouldn't have to do that. Cheers
Thank you for sharing your use case here, Hugh Strange. If there are any updates here, I'll be sure to let you know.
ABSOLUTELY need to have the ability to manually sort.ย It's SUCH a pain to have to number spaces, folders, and tasks.ย The stream becomes extremely fat and cumbersome.
When are we going to have this please ?ย
For me the ordering of folders and the use of folder sis very unusable. You can't drag them up or down in in the navigation, neither in the Gantt view. Putting numbers in front of them is a Windows 2000 way of doing. Currently I am using TamGantt and this is a dealbreaker for me. Any update on when this will be implemented?
The Wrike New Experience resolved all my problems regarding my work visibility.
I think users need to change the folders mindset by using the new workspace with pinned folders and also by taking the most from dashboards.ย
You can enable the New Experience on Wrike Labs. You will see that it changes everythingย ๐
Hi everyone, thank you for your feedback support here! I've just checked with the team and currently, there's no change of a status planned for this suggestion. Rui Oliveiraย thanks a lot for the tip!ย ๐

I am a coder and have built advanced applications and I can tell you, I don't care how the architecture is currently setup - it can't be that difficult to allow sorting of the projects or folders in list view. Just ad a sort column to the database row or something similar. I guarantee I would be able to find a solution if I could see the source code and database structure. We are not talking about restructuring the entire thing, we are talking about adding a minor function to change the way the SQL is being pulled or an array to be sorted pending the Ajax request. We are talking about simply displaying a list of titles in a custom order. Honestly this is more of a UI thing and should not be very complex. It's mindboggling why they don't just do it and get it over with because if they do, It catapults the value of this software immensely.
Its a real head scratcher?

Sorting other than alphanumerically for projects is a must. I cannot believe Wrike hasn't done this yet.
Hi Ben Lawson, at the moment our Product team is researching this suggestion.ย
They are looking at its feasibility, possible effects on other features, and other criteria to ensure that if this suggestion is implemented, it can be done so successfully. We don't have any more information to share on this at the moment, but as soon as we have more news to share here, we'll be sure to update the thread.

Echoing the community's sentiments that this should be a core/basic feature out of the box. ClickUp does it, JIRA does it, why can't Wrike... There's now been over a year of investigation. What results can you share?
I have just started a trial of Wrike and the very first problem I encountered is that you cannot reorder your folders without renaming them. Very amusing to me that such a basic function has been missing from the product for 5 years.ย
