[Status: Investigating 🕵️] Add future time frames in Dashboard filters

@Joe, hello! We have the 7 days ahead filter, but you would like a filter that specifically looks at the entire upcoming week?

Noticing that many users each have their own times they'd like to see, I'd like to jump back in with the idea that a dynamic "time frame" option would solve for almost all of them. It would be just like the "time frame" option we currently have, except it would not remain static. So, instead of choosing the time frame [Jan 10-26], I would choose the time frame [5 days in the past - 11 days in the future]. When I look at the same dashboard on Feb 12, it would show me Feb 7-23.

@staphanie - Yes, we'd love an option to look at the entire next week.

We schedule or team on weekly sprints. Schedules are to be complete and submitted on Thursday, so while we're working on their schedule for next week we'd like to run a report to see how it's looking for the upcoming week. If we ran if for the next 7 days it would mix up the schedules since the next 7 days crosses over two weeks.

@stephanie - For me, the issue is with tasks showing up on both my "next 7 days" dashboard and my "next 30 days" dashboard. It would be great to be able to see my longer range upcoming tasks without having my shorter term tasks duplicated. It seems like a rolling time frame option would be very helpful for most of the comments in this thread.

This can also be solved by @exclude@ filter, say "show next 7 days" exclude "today"

However, my issue is a bit different.

When I set DueDate = "X next days" and choose sorting by "date", it shows tasks not based on DueDate, but rather on Start>DueDate period. Likewise, in Today section I see tasks which have DueDates of today and tomorrow. It destroys the logic.

The correct way works only when i choose DueDate = "today". It shows exactly those tasks which are Due today.

Would be also great to have split by DueDates and DayOfWeek (so I can easily see my plan for the week and drag tasks from one day to another.

If the task's start date is 'today', but its scheduled end date is the 26th, it will show up in today because you can take action today.

I can't see the full details so please let me know if this is not the case with the scheduling for that task 👍

That's the point, when I sort by Due date, I want to see tasks by Due date, not by "in process" date.

It will prioritize my work over the day.

I understand Глеб, thanks for clarifying. I'd be interested in learning about your ways of working and how this detail in Dashboards helps you get more done.

Perhaps creating multiple Dashboard widgets based on precise Due Dates might be better for you? See the below example and let me know what you think 👍

Below, I select 'All Projects' as my Source Data and then filter by 'Due Date' as today. You could create a second widget for tomorrow, etc.? I know it's not exactly what you've requested here but it might help for now.

Agreed! Currently the only due date filters you can use for forecasting what's coming up are "next week", "7 days ahead" and "today". It would be great to have an option for "tomorrow". It would also be great to have options like "in two days" "in three days" etc.

+1 to this. For my staff dashboard I want them to see this weeks work in one column, and next months work in another column (without duplicating this weeks).

yes it can be done in the time frame, but only manually which would need updating daily across each member. if time frame had option for todays date + 7 (or user customisable) to todays date + 21 (or user customisable) it would solve everything! 

All the functionality is there in Wrike, just need a bit of tweaking.

Although this feature request is related to dashboards, it also has the same application on reports as well.

As a Wrike user I need to define custom date ranges (from "date" to "<n> days" ahead) so that I can run reports on demand efficiently without requiring manual date calculations.

This is exactly what's needed... It needs to be more granular dates 45 60 90 120 are some of the dates we use in order to pull more data and be able to analyze the data we pull.

I would like something like this for completed dates.  I would like to look at the following examples

Last 30 days, Last 60 days, etc.

Year to date

If it had the ability to do Last (blank) days, and you can input the days and it would be great.

This is an urgent feature - it cannot be so difficult to save a filter setting as a personal standard or for later use. The first request goes back to more than one year ago .... so there are no more than 3 days of grace!

Agreed. I am seeking this option too. Having more flexibility in reporting and dashboards will be useful.

Hi - I was asked to 'thumbs up' all the posts with features that I like-- apparently they use those to pick which are most urgent and 60 votes is the threshold for development. So  EVERYONE please upvote the actual forum question (scroll to the top) and then pick the ones you need most!

Most people have already suggested my needs (1. dynamic date range picker that isn't dates, 2. more dates groupings into the past/future, etc.)-- I HIGHLY AGREE WITH THESE. 👆👆

Wrike suggested to me to try a few new things:

- filter all my widgets 'By Priority' sorting and then drag and drop to sort the widget to put the most relevant tasks to the top. --A bit manual, but at least customizable.

- set up 'last month' and 'this month' widgets so you wont have duplication on both lists. (This week/last week would work as well). --However, you get different results if its Aug 31 vs. Sept 1 and then yesterdays tasks show up on the bottom of the last month list. Also, there is no matching '30 days back' filter so you cant do this with '30 days ahead'.

- open your dashboard widget in 'list view', adjust the filters and then save it back to your dashboard. --I've done this a bunch and its a good interim solution, especially when you want to restrict lists to specific folders. However, it turns out the list view filters are a smaller set than what is available on the dashboard settings so the options are limited.

- Set up a filter based on 'creation date'. --Interesting concept. Again here the filters are different in dashboard vs. list view. I can see tasks that were backlogged at one time and now are in rotation getting missed off of these lists.

I might be wrong, but I suspect something like the image example I've attached below could solve everything people want, and even make the existing fields obsolete? 

Basically a plus/minus toggle to determine if you mean in the past or future. Then a numeric field, then choose the time "type" from a dropdown (or maybe a text field limited to only "days," "weeks," "months," days of the week and months. 

So...
If you want just the coming week. choose "From: + 1 Monday" and "To + 1 Friday". 
If you want a rolling time frame, choose "From: - 7 days" and "To: +7 Days"

Not sure how feasible it is. But, boy oh boy would it solve a heck of a lot of scenarios.

For our need, it would be great to have an option to switch to either business days (Mon-Fri) or working days (Sun-Sat).  Or having an option to have the filters look at our work schedule and calculate the time frame from that as our work schedule denotes our work week (Mon-Fri) as well has our company holidays.  

The report we are trying create based on our working days/business days is workload utilization.  With 7 days out, we can use calculated fields to help us get the 5 business days we need to achieve.  If we use the 30 days ahead option, that gets a little tricky.  We are currently using the time frame but have to update every week.

Just to add to the thread about more customized time frames on the dashboards - we have a need to look at things in YEARS and QUARTERS for sales related data.  So, for example, I would like to create a dashboard that will show me aspects of data for all of 2018 only.  Right now, I have to set a custom time frame and use the calendar feature to select Jan. 1, 2018 through Dec. 31, 2018.  It would be nice to have the option to just select the year.

Also, for the quarters, we are having to constantly set and change the time frame to select the start/end dates of a sales quarter (Jan - March, April - June, July-Sept., Oct. - Dec).  Having a quarterly option would help.

We use these filters in Calendars and to have a choice to go beyond the "next 30 days" is a MUST.

Another very useful filter that should be available on any date field is overdue or before today. It's available as overdue under the "Tasks To Do" filters, but isn't available at all on any other date fields.

We track the originally requested due date in a custom field so we have a record of what the original request had even when it is adjusted. We'd like to be able to have a dashboard that shows tasks that have gone past the original requested due date, but it's not possible with the filters available for the custom field without constantly updating the filter. Using the last month filter doesn't work for us because requests can sit in approvals and scheduling for a while if they aren't the highest importance.

Charles's suggestion for customizable offsets to set a date range would work by setting an absurdly large number on one end, but it'd be better to have the option to leave one end unbounded.

The workaround I've suggested internally for now is to create a report that sorts by our custom field and to pay attention to only the first part of the report.

Today I needed to filter on a custom field, for everything with a past date in a custom field that wasn't done yet... and I couldn't do it on a dashboard. I second the motion from Charles Sanderson to allow arbitrary delta times (that is, based on date at run-time) in addition to fixed calendar ranges on dates filters.
