[Status: Launched ๐] Code formatting in task descriptions and comments
Could you please enable users to format text in both descriptions and comments as code? ย Similar to applying the <pre> and <code> HTML tags, any text a user formatted as code would be displayed in a monospace font withย long blocks contained within a scrollable element.
Suggested mechanisms for implementation include:
- Dropdown selections in the GUI for code formatting.
- Single tick marks for inline code formatting, e.g., `code`
- Triple tick marks to demark the start/end of a code block, e.g., ```multi-line code block```
Bonus points for:
- Code syntax highlighting.
- Full support of the Markdown syntax.

@ Jose Horta -- Yes we did. I think the combined costs were similar to Wrike. I do miss the expense management and reporting of Harvest, but Harvest was pretty slow in update cycles as well. However, their product just, well, worked. No frills.ย I have also seen that EverHour has an Asana integration similar to Harvest's, but I digress.
This is a thread about WRIKE and how AWESOME IT WOULD BE to have support for the coding/tech users out there. We are a TECHNOLOGY company and the need is real!!
An imperative feature for software development and quality assurance teams. +1
I was told to upvote this post on a seperate issue. I upvoted it back in 2017. Anyway to upvote it again?
Hey Followers.... this might help. Comments from Wrike as recently as a couple weeks ago. Apparently the Wrike Content Team is about to implement Wrike for their own work-- 'eat their own dog food' if you will. Maybe we can raise thisย feature requestย there too!! I've already added a comment with a helpful nudge.

ย
Is there any news about this feature? I see it's been >1year already since initially requested...
Would be good to have a time frame when you expect something happening
@Alessio
that is a good joke. that question has been asked quite a few times and no response from @wrike
@wrike have you implemented a code formatting feature into your platform yet?
This is a pretty simple thing, especially considering you are a task management platform that developers use........ ๐
@Thread We're reading your comments as they come in. While this isn't currently being worked on, the Product Manager is aware of the requests and will be commenting here soon to provide more insight in anย attempt to be as transparent as possible.
@Stephanie, no problem we can waitย one year more. You guys can focus on things that are not asked here as you think that these other things are more important than the things that we say that we need.ย
in my organization we are 10 + votes
I'm shocked and saddened to hear that it isn't being worked on.ย
@Stephanie, on the 25th of January (2018), you mentioned "updating the legacy code in the comment stream is the first step before we're able to make any functionality changes to comment and stream functionality. "
Has this at least been in progress, is it near complete?
Looking forward to hearing an update from the project manager. Hopefully he/she can restore my organizations faith in Wrike.
Essential! Emojis should be there as well.
That's even more infuriating that Wrike team has been reading this thread and just not doing anything for this long. Wouldn'tย be surprised if there was some kind of inside joke about this thread in their office.ย
I am very sad to see that a company with such a promising project can not take a few days to implement a more capable comment formatting. Every competitive product has this capability and it is not even something that should be difficult to implement for a company like Wrike.ย
This feature has been requested forย almost 1.5 years, for a feature that would make commenting a relevant feature off Wrike and nothing yet???
I am pretty sure this feature could be implemented with minimal effort for a team like the one at Wrike as well.
This feature may end up preventing me from moving 10s of clients ticket management over to wrike because there is no way to:
Please implement this feature soon. At least tell us if you will not plan to implement it so we can move on to a new platform.
Even the comment box I am using now has basic formatting.ย
Still nothing on this?ย Seems like a pretty baseline feature.
I saw a reply on my inbox from Alex Plotvinov - Senior Product Manager at Wrike, but then it was gone. I think it was deleted. I have a copy of it though...
ย
@Zohar MA

I guess Wrike do notย know about "what happens on the internet stay on theย Internet"ย
Guys, this comment is pinned here in this thread. ๐๐๐๐
Hi everyone, just to clarify, Alex's post was never deleted, it's pinned to the first page on this thread.ย

ย I have posted my vote for this somewhere on a forum thread before. PLEASE find a way to enhance the Wrike comment functionality with at least the most basic functions available in rich text comment areas.
For example, I am typing this veryย commentย on a Wrike forum. I have the ability to complete simple formatting, like applying bold font, italics, bullet list even in my providing my comment TO WRIKE STAFF. Please see screenshot. http://prntscr.com/jcv7qjย
At this point, any assistance with formatting would be better than having nothing: Bold, yellow highlight or different font color, bullet list, hyperlink. I don't care about crazy emoticons. For the love of Jesus, I just need basic formatting in the comments. :) Think most people would agree with that.
I do a lot of software testing and it is PAINFUL for myself (the authorย attempting to organize my feedback in an organized and simple manner)ย and for the poor developer (trying to digest my testing feedback) when I have sometimes upwardsย 10-15 points or sub-pointsย to provide. That is a challenge to produce in a digestible format when the only functions I have available to emphasize my points are ALL CAPS or number lists I manually create myself.
I absolutely love Wrike and I am stunned that this is not already a basic feature considering how many wonderful features Wrike has implemented over the last 3+ years. Someone please help us! Thank you so much!
Hi everyone, Alex has just added a comment to the thread and there's good news! Check out his comment under the first post in this thread.ย
and !!!! any timeline !!!!??ย
Seriously, folks, who makes a product management app and doesnโtย care to include a developer persona?
Markdown would be excellent, butย at least give us an editor button to format text as code blocks (<pre>) and inline code (<code>).
I canโt believe Iโm writing this comment, tbh.
Hello, were there any further news on this one? We just signed our contract with Wrike and this is preventing the smooth operation of our Dev Team.
This is currently affecting 15 people and Wrike is currently offering a worse user experience compared to our previous Tool.
Our organization of 30 would like to know the timeline of when this feature will be implemented.
Just received notification of a desktop app for Wrike, although this is neat, it does not solve the problem of Wrike providing an inadequate product to that of their competitors.
At least they offer this ๐ฉ
Does anyone have suggestions for project management software?
Fingers crossed that when they said they couldn't do it last quarter that they meant THIS quarter it would be in dev, so one would assume September. But thats a BIG guess ;) I won't hold my breath but a girl can hope!
ย
andย Today is one of those days when you need this NOWย
then i remember that i posted 2 years ago and then I forget.ย
This is even becoming a joke for me to be honestย
Really Themes over this feature?ย
