Account admins can convert custom item types from the account level to the space level. This helps you keep your account organized and makes it easier to manage item types that are only relevant to specific spaces.
By moving custom item types to the space level, you can keep your account organized and let space admins manage their own configurations.
-
Click your profile image 1 in the sidebar.
-
Select Settings 2 from the drop-down menu.
-
In the left-hand navigation panel, click Custom item types 3 under Account management. You’ll see a list of all custom item types for your account and spaces.
-
Select the account-level custom item type you want to convert.
-
Hover over the item type name, click the three-dot menu 4, and select Convert to space item type… 5.
OR
Click the item type name to open the editor, then click Convert to space item type… 6 under Account-wide access.
-
In the pop-up, select the space 7 you want to move the item type to.
-
Click Convert 8.
The item type is now moved from the account level to the selected space.
After the move is complete, if grouping by Belongs to is enabled, the item type will automatically appear under the selected space group instead of the account group.
Note
When you move an item type from the account level to a specific space, a few things may change:
-
Automations:
-
Review your automation rules at the account level and in other spaces. If these rules were set up to work with the item type you just moved, you may need to update them.
-
If the item type had automation rules inside it, those rules will move to the target space as well.
-
Automation rules in other spaces and target space that reference the moved item type will be paused. They stay paused until you resolve any conflicts, or if a rule is triggered and runs successfully, it will resume automatically.
-
-
Request forms:
-
Check your request forms at the account level and in other spaces. If a form is set up to create items from the type you moved, you’ll need to update it.
-
Request forms in the target space will still work as expected. Forms in other spaces that reference the moved item type won’t stop working, but they’ll create generic items instead of custom item types until you update them.
